I just stumbled across the Wiki and noticed an opening date of 2/18/2014. Is this real? I don't trust Wiki 99% of the time but have a spring break trip planned and kids are excited to ride it for last several months. Anyone have some inside info if this is correct?

The last I heard it was going to be late March or Early April. I know I read that here on the Dis, but I don't know if it was from an article or someone with inside info!

PassPorter is reporting the official grand opening and press event for the ride has been set for sometime in early May 2014, so I don't see how it could be unofficially opening almost three months before that.

I could go to Wikipedia right now and edit it to say the grand opening is tomorrow. That doesn't make it true.

Until there is either official word from Disney or a solid rumor from a reputable Disney news site, everyone is just guessing.

At one point according to wiki George W Busch was the anti-christ and Barrack Obama was a socialist who planned to purposely ruin the economy. Point being anyone can edit a wiki page at anytime, with bias, inaccurate information. As for the mine train my guess is April.

New Fantasyland officially opened in December 2012 but had its first public soft openings in October, so it is conceivable the dates could be correct for Mine Train.

was at MK yesterday and looked thru the "peek inside" windows, there's still a lot that needs to be done, no way it's soft opening February 18

They are still doing internal transfer requests to be a CM for this ride until the 16th, then they have to re-position and train them. That, coupled with the inside work that needs to be finished, there is no way this will be open next week.

People get all excited about soft openings, but no one should get their hopes up. Being picked as a family that gets to test ride during a soft opening is kind of like winning the lottery. It's possible, but not likely. Just because it's soft opening does not mean everyone will get a shot at riding. Don't get your hopes up.

We were the during sm and the new fantasyland soft openings they didn't pick families. When it was open anyone could go in. But it was randomly open and close during the day.

This is how it was for us during the EE soft opening also. Maybe they have different procedures for different attractions?

Though it's worded that way, I don't think the PP meant to imply that CMs during a SO stood there scanning a crowd and hand-picking those who could ride.

How can people sat "there is a lot to be done" based on looking through a peek hole? I worked in heavy construction for 10 years and it never ceased to amaze me how in a matter of days a project could go from looking incomplete to finished.

I don't think this will be ready in a week but I think early March is a reasonable estimate with a grand opening around Easter. IDK, just my opinion/guess.

My mom and I were down there the first day they had a soft opening for ETWB. We just so happened to be sitting in Mickey's Philharmagic. Just as the show ended, about six CMs came walking in through the exit, yelled for us all to sit back down, and then asked if anyone was interested in seeing a brand new interactive attraction, saying we'd be the very first guests to ever see it. They didn't actually tell us it was ETwB. Of course, everyone raised their hands and yelled yes. They told us to follow them in an orderly fashion and then marched us out of Mickey's Philharmagic, across the way, and through a door in the wall and then to Belle's house. No one else was invited to join us. It was just the guests who happened to be watching Mickey's Philharmagic at that particular time.

Hmmmm :coffee: this got me thinking. How would a soft opening "look"? I mean , ETWB and the Jack Sparrow thing were closed-in. You can be sure, if I or anyone else is near the train and I see , what appear to be guests, I will be stalking the entrance - here's hoping! popcorn::
