~*~ Mindyjoy's May 19 2012 Disneyland Wedding TR ~*~ Trip Report Has Begun!

Love the setup at the party, and way cute dress!! And I love the boots. It looks like something I would wear! I break out the boots all the time, my favorite!!!!

Aww thanks! Yeah, the dress looked and felt fabou, and got tons of compliments. It was money well spent. :lovestruc

1. I'm going to Old Navy. Like tomorrow.
2. I'm totally in love with those glasses.

First of all, congrats on your degree! What an accomplishment!!

Those toasting glasses are too cute. And I love the T-shirt! I wish I could fit into a girl's extra large now too! ;)

AND FINALLY, I had an initial phone call with Nathan Root of THE ROOTS! I told him my budget and they are going to put together a couple package options for us. I really really really hope we can work something out with them, because I just love their work so much!!!!!

I still need to upload my venue photos from last Sunday; hopefully I'll get to it this weekend!!!

What!?! That's FREAKING awesome! Are you flying them out here? wow. PLEASE, PLEASE tell me how that goes.
My best friend from Middle School is a photography major, so I'm having him shoot our wedding, but I too (thanks to lurkyloo) am a fan of the Roots!

If you look at their website they note that they will travel anywhere as part of their fee. Now I am just waiting to see what kind of package they can put together for my budget. :thumbsup2

You are lucky. I have a few friends who dabble with photography, but for me photography is one of the things I am willing to splurge on. Luckily DF agrees so we are on the hunt for the best photographers and in my opinion The Roots are the best!!!!

Okay, don't laugh ..... here's my first attempt at a topiary.

:lmao: The ivy isn't quite how I envisioned it would look. It looked a lot better before I added it. I'll take it out at some point and take another picture but I'm feeling sorta defeated tonight. lol

This looks pretty good for a first try. The daisy colors go together very nicely. :thumbsup2

I wonder if maybe you tried smaller ivy leaves? They might blend in more with the shape instead of sticking out so much. You could also try tucking them partly under the petals of the flowers to smooth out the look. If you're aiming for roundness, that is...:confused3

Yeah, I wanted a "looped" effect for the ivy but you are right, it would need to be smaller ivy. Le sigh.

WOOOHOOO! I just signed up to do a bridal gown focus group at the end of the month for $125.:banana::banana:

For my "homework" I need to make a collage of dresses I like. DUH, WINNING, I already have tons of those!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love your topiary girl!! :) I do agree with the ivy that a smaller leaf would do better... unless you got a different type of leaf? Or perhaps tuck the ivy in as much as you can and make it more of a filler?

Congrats on the bridal focus group!! Let us know how it goes!! :goodvibes

OMG I busted out laughing at the Charlie Sheen quote. Congrats on the focus group!!!

I think the topiaries look great for a first go round. I agree with the other brides that tucking inthe ivy or a smaller leaf would give you the look you are going for. Let us know how it turns out!!

A week ago Sunday we took DF's parents (and DF) to see the wedding venues. So now DF finally has seen where we will be getting married. :rotfl:

Brisa Courtyard (cocktail hour)

The first time we walked by the Trillium ballroom, we tried to go in and it was locked. So we walked through the lobby, across the street to show them the Paradise Pier hotel, then back to Downtown Disney where we had lunch at Uva Bar. On our way back through the GCH, I saw a couple Cast Members. So I explained we were getting married in the Trillium and were hoping to show DF's parents the room and could it possibly be unlocked for us? They said sure and unlocked the room. We got so lucky!

I didn't know it had a terrace! That the monorail goes by! Just like the smaller ballroom I loved!

And here's a video that DF took on his phone, in case anyone is interested. Pardon me while I cringe because I hate the sound of my voice. :headache:

Loooove the pictures! =] And your topiary, I def agree with the ivy being a little out there.. Try and find something you can kinda bend and loop it around?? Or get some of that wired ribbon and loop it throughout the flowers?? =]

Can't wait to see more!

Jenifer's loop comment gave me an idea. You might be able to glue the tip of the leaf near the stem to get a loop. It also won't stick out as much, and you won't have to get smaller leaves. Just a thought...:confused3

Ugh, my man voice. :headache::headache::headache:

Wired ribbon might be pretty. Thanks!

I tried playing with the ivy a little more but the leaves are just too big for my "vision." I need to try smaller ivy or just ditch it all together. lol

Love the pics!! It's going to be so pretty!!!

:yay: Thanks!

Did the daisies come with leaves? You could try using those if you don't like it with the smaller ivy. Unless they're the long ones, that might be too much loop...
