I heard it's based on a true story. (I don't know how much of it was actually true.) There was a segment on the news recently about the lady whose life's story was the base of the movie. She had a terrible tragedy in the ring. It was sad to hear. She inspired a movie that won top film awards and grossed millions. It didn't seem as though many knew her. I think she died within months of the film's release. Really sad.
We were going to watch it last night, but my DH had work to do. Good to know in advance that it's a tearjerker. Anything remotely sad or touching makes me cry, though!
I cried so hard during this movie that I thought the theatre was going to toss me out. And I am not a big cryer at movies.
Only movie to ever make me cry harder was A River Runs Through It. Thankfully, I saw that one in the privacy of my own home and could wail as much as I needed to.
I will never forgive my parents for this. Highlight if you don't mind a spoiler.
I wanted to go see it with some friends and my father was rather upset about me going out, I have no clue why, and he said I should go see a comedy and I calmly said, "This is the movie Chris invited me to see." And dad yelled SHE DIES AT THE END. No tears for me
Just came upstairs from watching it. DH saw it on a long flight and thought I would enjoy it. I watched to "be polite". Um, I wound up sobbing. He was proud of himself
