Military tickets at the window

Yup, it's that 40% off that allows us the treat of staying at a deluxe resort.

Agreed. We usually hit WL in the wintertime (the great north woods park lodge feel really complements the cooler weather) but the kids stayed at CSR last time they were there, and they loved it, so we're sched there this trip.

This all seems very strange. It sounds like many of you are saying there is now a way to use military salute tickets without a military person being present at the time of use if they are purchased from Shades of Green. Seems dangerous.

To get on Shades of Green property you must have a Military I.D. OR a tee off time for the golf courses. To purchase from the attractions counter they have always asked for my military I.D. They even ask for it at the AAFES store on property. So civilians won't be able to purchase those tickets, activated or not.

Very true, but that's not what is concerning. If a military person does not need to be present when they are used, that opens the door for a lot of misue. It sounds like I could easily have my brother, who is military, buy me and my boyfriend salute tickets while we are there in December from shades of green, then my boyfriend and I could use them without my brother being present at a later date.

If that's true, then this could be misused in a lot of ways.

If military salute tickets are being sold already activated, it's a potential game-changer, and could threaten the integrity of the whole thing, I think.

They are allowed up to 6 tickets per trip at a total of 12 tickets per the promotion. Anyone can use them. Since my husband doesn't like Disney I, as a spouse, purchase tickets for me and my parents to use. My parents can come and go from a different Park at any time, without me. I just had to be there at the beginning to activate the tickets. Since the tickets are now pre activated at shades of green they are non transferable to other guests, they are most likely assigned to a person via my disney experience or their photo ID so it's not like they could sell them to another person.

I recieved my activated tickets in the mail. They were not assigned to anyone until I entered them in MDE. The point we're all making, is that I could have given them (or sold them) to anyone I wanted after I recieved them.

But you having to be there in person to activate them made it unlikely you were willing to just buy them and give them/sell them to anyone but family/close friends. Sure once activated people are free to split up, but the activate in person was a check on misuse of a very generous benefit that will likely be eroded if it can be exploited so easily.

Civilians will be able to turn around and buy them from the service member.

Whenever I have had to activate salute tickets at a park ticket window, I needed to be present with my military ID and the person who was getting assigned the ticket needed to be there with ID as well. This is how it has always worked for me when using vouchers purchased from base ITT/MWR (I have never purchased Salute tickets from Shades so I can't speak on that activation wise). After activation, we were free to split up. Buying from Base/Shades removes the sales tax, whereas purchasing directly from a ticket window has sales tax.

Has anyone visited with their pre-activated SOG tickets yet? We have 11 people in our party but only one military member limiting us to 6 tickets. If another military relative who is not traveling with us could buy the other 5 tickets that would save us a lot...
