I read on here the other day that the military ticket has been extended, but when I look on all the sites to buy tickets it says they expire on sept 28th. Where can I find if the tickets really are extended through April or not?

Disney has announced that the offer has been extended through September 2012, however the details have not yet been released. Should be soon!

At this time there is no official detailed information available. As soon as detailed information is available to those of us who sell tickets at WDW, I will both update the Everything About WDW Tickets locked sticky, as well as start a new public thread in the TPA&S forum with actual details. I have also (on 4/26) checked on Disneyland and there is nothing posted internally there either.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure they were for sure extended. I'm trying to work on my budget, and that could be a huge glich if I plan on them, and then they don't have them KWIM??

Thanks Cheshire Figment!

Does anyone know if the discount applies to college students enrolled in ROTC? DS is in Air Force ROTC, he has a military id - I believe it is a military reserve id - until he is commissioned after graduation.

I would think as long as he has an ID card he would be able to, but I have never seen this asked before.

We are a NAVY reserve family and both of my kids have IDs that I used to purchase their tickets at Disneyland in CA at the ticketbooth and had NO PROBLEM!

He should be fine.

I am guessing no. The offer is for active duty or retired military only.

My husband is Army Reserve and we had no problem buying them, in fact they tried to push us to buy them earlier this month, when we only needed a 1 day base ticket.

Yes, an active reservist is eligible for the Disney ticket offer. An active reservist is NOT the same thing as an ROTC cadet. An ROTC cadet should not be eligible for this offer. Whoever asked this question originally needs to call Disney and check eligibility.

"Eligible Service Members" are active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Wow - some of you are very passionate about this.

I was only asking on here because I made the assumption that calling Disney to ask about a military discount would be similar to calling Disney with most of my other questions - the answer depends on who answers the phone at any particular time. I've been given wrong information numerous times when I call Disney asking questions. Disboards seem to know Disney much better than the people who answer the telephones at Disney. I apologize for asking.

Wow - some of you are very passionate about this. Sorry if I offended anyone asking about ROTC cadets. Considering that this cadet gave up a month of active training last summer, not to mention giving up a day a week for class and training during the school year (not to mention numerous weekends) I guess that I considered that "active" reserve. This man is also voluntarily servicing for a minimum of four more years after his graduation.

To all those who are currently serving our country ... a great BIG thank you!!! When I asked this question, I did not mean in any way that ROTC cadets should be given something that they are not deserving of.

Is your Cadet's ID card the CAC card or the green ID card?? If it is either than yes they are eligible. They still have to do their training.

I believe a cadet is a reservist or National Guardsman depending on college and therefore is eligible for the tickets at Disney.

For those saying it is just Active and Retired, you are not completely right. It is also those veterans rated 100% disabled as I have been eligible to take advantage of this each year it has been out and will again in June.

ETA: Can you imagine the logistics nightmare in which the CMs are required to figure out which green, blue, or tan ID cards are eligible and which are not??

I don't think anyone is offended. The training and sacrifice made by an ROTC cadet is hardly the same as that made by active duty, retired, and medically retired service members. And yes, I know what I'm talking about; I attended college under an ROTC scholarship and am a veteran married to an active duty officer with currently 28 1/2 years of active service. An ROTC cadet is not in the active reserves (there are some exceptions, but sounds as if your child isn't one of these).

Personally, I have no problems with ROTC getting free tickets to Disney, but it appears that they simply are not eligible for this offer.

FYI, active duty now have CAC (common access) cards, which are white.

I'm not sure who all is eligible. But when we picked ours up this year at SOG the gentleman helping us said that a lot of people who think they are eligible actually are not... :confused3 I'd call SOG and ask. Or be prepared to pay the full regular discount price available to Military, if when you get there he isn't eligible.

Have you read the ticket sticky that Cheshire did? Maybe the answer is in there. :confused3

Many of you on this thread are extremely helpful, thank you to most of you!!!

To the one who feels that ROTC does not deserve any discounts, I assume you did very little when you where in ROTC because I cannot begin to tell you the amount of time devoted to ROTC now, at least by the majority of the cadets. AND, yes, I do realize it is not the same as active duty but that does not mean these young people do not work exceptionally hard --- not only at ROTC but also at maintaining an excellent GPA while attending an extremely difficult college full time, working part time, actively involved in church groups all while participating in ROTC. At no time, did I ever mention a free ticket to Disney! I certainly hope that my children do not run into many service personal with the attitude certain people have on this thread.

I will be deleting my subscription to this thread now. Again, thanks to the majority of you who made helpful suggestions.

Simply check your ID card. If it is DD form1173, you should be good to go. There are no official details as of yet, and the last few years it has taken a while to get it figured out. The information is from Cheshire Figment's stickied ticket thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684&page=2 and pertains to FY2011:

Disney’s Armed Forces Salute
Walt Disney World has a special program effective October 24, 2010 and running through October 1, 2011 for members of the United States armed services, their dependents and guests. This post discusses the program and is broken into three major sections: Eligibility, Entitlements, and Procedures for participating.

Eligibility and Definitions

A
service member has a current active duty, including active reserve, or retired ID card from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corp, or Navy. This includes disabled veterans whose ID Card indicates DAVPRM.

A
dependent is the spouse or other relative of a service member who has an ID card (DD Form 1173) which shows the service member as the sponsor.

A
guest is any person not a dependent accompanying the service member.

Not eligible on their own are persons who would normally have access to military bases and/or Shades of Green (SoG) such as DoD Civilians, NAF, USPHS and veterans who are not retirees. This list may include others. People who fall into this category may, however, be dependents or guests.
