The fine print on the Disney site says that you can buy up to 6 tickets does that mean at one time? Or does that mean for the whole year? Are there other options than just 4 or 5 day tickets?

You can only use 6 tickets for the full "year". Usually they're valid October to the end of September I believe. They renew the contract for starting every October in which case you can get/use another 6. Nothing but 4 or 5 day tickets although I believe you can get a very small discount on regular tickets at Shades of Green. Haven't done that myself but others have said so.

I think they actually changed and the Military Salute tickets now renew January. The MS tickets expire very close to the end of the calendar year because they are blacked out for Christmas. These are the most heavily discounted tickets, and only come as 4 or 5 day options, and you can add hopper/water parks or not. You do get a very very small discount on regular tickets (and pay no tax on them if you buy on base or at Shades) but even with that discount, it may be cheaper to get a 4 day MS ticket than a 2 days regular ticket with the small military discount. The nice thing about MS tickets is that the 4 or 5 days can be used anytime throughout the year, so you can go two days now and 2 days in November on a 4 day ticket. If you add the Water Park feature, you get 4 park days AND 4 water park days, making it essentially an 8 day ticket for a very low price.

The military member can buy up to 6 MS tickets per YEAR for WDW and another 6 per YEAR for DLR (unless the immediate family is greater than 6, such as Mom, Dad and 5 kids, then you can buy 7).

Thanks for correcting me. Learn something new everyday. Disney's website does say through December 19th.

So just checking if I bought the 5 day park hopper and water park ticket I would get 5 days in the parks itself (main 4) and then I would still have 5 days I could use it at either of the 2 water parks? So hypothetically if I took a 10 day trip my first 5 days I could park hop the 4 main parks then for the next 5 days I could park hop the 2 water parks but can not go to the 4 main parks?

Not exactly. Yes you could do the main parks for 5 days and hop between them on 5 days, but the WP&M is a little different. You would have 5 entrances to a water park (or one of the more options). This means if you go to both water parks on ONE day, you've used TWO of your entrances. The days do not have to be consecutive, and you do not have to use all of them in a 14 day period. The ticket is good until Dec 19, so you could do 2 days at the main parks and a few trips into the water parks on one trip and then do another trip before Dec 19 and do it all over again.
