My family is planning a 7 day trip this coming February. My father, who is retired military, will be joining us for five of those days. Is there a way to add a day to the specially-priced four day military tickets now available?

Yes, you can buy a single day ticket at SOG. Look on the site for single day tickets, I just took a look at it yesterday.

But a four-day military ticket plus a one-day military ticket might be even more expensive than one five-day, non-military ticket.

That's a decision for the OP to make if the price to add an extra day is worth it or not....

OP- call SOG. It IS possible.

I think that you are misinterpreting my post.

My claim was that one five-day ticket (without any military discount) might be cheaper than a four-day military-discounted ticket plus a one-day military-discounted ticket.

BTW, I don't see the option for a one-day military ticket from SoG here on SoG's website: http://www.shadesofgreen.org/StarsStripes.htm

We're staying at SOG and I think that purchasing an additional one day ticket will still be a little cheaper than buying regular tickets. I'm coming up with a little less than $300 for the 4 day Salute tickets plus a one day w/no park hopper. A regular 5 day no park hopping is about $323 and with park hopping is $388. At least by my calculations.

I could totally be off the mark. :goodvibes

no. they are not upgradeable . best you can do is the WFP&M option.

no it is NOT. the 4 day StH may NOT be upgraded at all in any way shape or form.

there are normal tickets sold at a small discount that can be configured in the usual ways. these can be upgraded or added on to just like any regular ticket sold by Disney

I was there early Sept. my DH had purchased us each the 4day ticket in April that was expiring Sept 27, 2014. For health reasons we were unable to activate and use until the very month due to expire.
When we went to ticket center to activate our ticket, the CM noticed we are Florida residents. He offered the option to upgrade to Florida Annual Pass. Additionally the CM gave full retail credit for our existing unused Military 4 day which was 100.00 more. Since the AP came with magic bands at no charge, it was win for us. We were at SOG so had planned on purchasing MB.
Perhaps it depends on the CM, but we felt good about the upgrade.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll look at price difference between 4 + 1 and regular 5 day ticket and figure out which way is cheapest.

You are definitely the recipient of some pixie dust! I hope the CM didn't get into trouble or have to make up the difference, because Salute tickets are not allowed to be used in the way yours were.

Guess you didn't see the link I posted?? Never said it was an UPGRADE. It's an ADDITIONAL TICKET PURCHASE.

I'm sorry. :goodvibes

What if I need more days than the Armed Forces Salute Tickets offer?

In some cases you may want to spend more days touring the Disney parks than are available on the Armed Forces Salute Tickets.

At Disney World, one idea is to opt for the Water Park & More Option (or add it to you hopper ticket). The WP&M visits can be used on non-park days to fill out a longer stay.

Another option is to buy tickets for the additional days on top of your Armed Forces Salute Tickets. But you should be careful doing this, depending on the options you select for your regular Military Discounted Disney tickets it becomes more costly to add a second ticket versus just opting for the number of days that you need using the regular military discount instead of the Armed Forces Salute.

You can also go to a nearby military installation to their Information Travel and Ticket office or something with a similar name and purchase the amount of days you want if you have a military ID (your father can do this too). If he purchases the tickets he can get up to 6 at the military rates as long as he is there to use one of them. At the ITT office you can also get 5 day tickets, 1 day tickets, etc. Many different configurations, they have a whole list that includes the prices per day with and without extra options.

We are staying on WDW property with a dining plan and bought our Salute to Heroes tickets at a local military installation.

I don't think it applies to the trip in discussion but just so other military families know. My family of three is going for 7 days in November. I purchased 6 military salute 4 day passes and linked two for each person on MDE. It was cheaper then buying the 7 day with military discount. I was worried you could only do fast passes for the first ticket and you would have to wait to do the second ticket. That's not the case, MDE allowed me to do fast passes for all 7 days once they were linked.

The four day salutes are delivered to the base travel office within a day or two after purchase. Be careful purchasing extended stay tickets on base. I initially purchased 7 day tickets and when they hadn't arrived after 40 days I started to get impatient and a little mad. They kept telling me they were on back order from Disney. That's when I made the switch to two salute tickets per person and actually got refunded $20.00. We r only using 7 of the 8 days but only because airfare and rooms were booked prior to ordering tickets.
