Military Rates for MNSSHP?

Anyone seen military discounts for this year? Saw the AP and DVC discounts but no military discounts.

I just checked with the travel office here on base and all I got was a blank stare. So, i came back to my office and Googled it. In 2014 you could get military discount tickets but only by purchasing them at the gate or at Shades of Green. They set aside a set number of tickets for military or retired. Also, the tickets were only good for the September parties. It looks like Ill just be buying mine through Disney for our October trip.

I heard MNSSHP tickets went on sale. In my experience, the official announcement with dates and pricing for Military Discount tickets has usually appeared approx May 1st. The Military dates will be in September, but 2-3 years ago (as I recall) Disney extended the offer into the first week of October. This extension was announced at a later date (around Sept). I would keep watching the militarydisneytips.com website for info.

For the MNSSHP Military Discount dates, Disney allows active Military members and retirees (or spouses) to purchase their allotment of tickets even if the MNSSHP party is sold out. Last year we did just that for a sold-out late Sept date. We went to the ticket booth at the TTC with proper ID and purchased Military Discount tickets for that evening's party. (Too bad it rained Cats & Dogs, but that's another story.)

I'm not sure if Shades of Green sells the MNSSHP tickets. We've always purchased them at the MK gate, or at the TTC or DTD. (Any WDW ticket booth should handle this purchase.) Pretty sure these party tickets aren't sold on base.

We're a little on the fence about whether or not to go -- I've been a few times, my son and daughter in law have never been -- so maybe we'll just wait until the day of to decide. Military Discount dates should be announced soon. If the first party is also a Military ticket date, you're all set, Otherwise AP or DVD discount is for advance purchase. I think your son and dil would love the party!

I would be weary of waiting to buy tickets with military discount. I had read the same thing last year regarding tickets for MVMCP and the military discount....that they could still be bought if the event was sold out, but it had to be day of the event. I went to guest services at MK the morning of the event and asked to buy military tickets and was told by the cast member that the party was sold out. We were extremely disappointed. I will not make that mistake again. I will be purchasing tickets for this years MVMCP at regular price and in the VERY near future.

Seems like maybe that cast member was wrong -

"Military discounted tickets for "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" and "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party" will be available at all Vacation Planning and Guest Relations locations

If the Military Guest arrives at Magic Kingdom® Park on a sold out Military discounted night, the Military Guest may still go to Magic Kingdom Guest Relations only and purchase tickets at the discounted military rate

If the Military Guest arrives on a sold-out non-Military discounted night, they can purchase tickets at the same-day sales price (excluding 10/31) at Magic Kingdom Guest Relations only."

Quick Question. Does the Military member have to attend the party. In other woord, can he purchase for In-laws and his daughter. We would like to take granddaughter to party while mom and dad have a grownup date night.

Not sure about the MNSSHP but last year with the Christmas Party we could not buy military tickets in advance. We had to buy them at guest relations AND the military member had to be present to buy them. He showed his ID (he was also buying his park tickets). They gave us the plastic tickets as well as loaded onto our Magic Band so they did not ask for his ID when we entered the party. Not sure if the military member has to attend but they might since they ask for names on the tickets when you purchase them
