Has anyone heard if the Military discount on park passes will be continued in 2010 { the 99.00 5 day park pass } ? Also if I am staying on DVC points, could I use the discounted pass, if offered?

I asked the representative at Shades of the Green this week if they had heard any rumors of it being extended and they haven't yet. She thought it would be November or December before anything would be announced. She did say that this is only the 2nd time Disney has done such a large discount so they were hoping it would be continued but not counting on it.

The pass is good no matter where you stay. You are not required to stay at Shades of Green and you are not required to even stay on site in order to use the pass.

I so hope they do these tickets again!!! My mom and I have decided to run in the princess 1/2 marathon in march and since the trip is so soon it will have to be very budget friendly or rather... CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP:rotfl:

If they dont offer that ticket deal again don't know if we will go back in 2010. We are heading down for our fourth time this year over Thanksgiving. All because of the military discount on Tix

I have a couple of questions for anyone who has used this in the past.

If they do offer this again...

Must a person be retired- career service military?

My father was in the military (during the Vietnam era), but he was not career service.

Have other people used this with Disney's Dining Plan? Do you just need to buy a one-day base ticket.

My understanding is yes.

I would think yes since it is included in packages.

From what I've heard-yes.

We used the offer with the DDP this past summer. We did not need to buy a 1 day base ticket because of the military ticket offer. So we just reserved a room with the DDP and bought the tickets at WDW.

Same here. Didn't need a one day ticket.

To take advantage of the military discount a person must be eligible for military services, and they carry an ID card.

So a veteran is not eligible, but a retiree is eligible because a retiree has benefits of a sort per their ID card and status.

It is ahame the way they do it. My husband was shot in Iraq and could not continue military service and we are not eligable because he didn't retire and is not active! I love America sometimes...
