Funny you mention that.
I guess things may have changed but, if my family hadn't moved from Hawaii to Arizona when we did:
I would be deaf (50 Ear infections in the span of a year)
My brother would be blind (he is currently 20-400 vision)
My mom would be dead (major gastro-intestinal problems)
The doctors at Arizona were surprised at how bad of shape we were in.
That and it doesn't help when your mother is immobilized and sees a cockroach walking towards her on the tube going into her mouth. (For those that don't know - the average insect size in Hawaii is about 4 inches long)
So needless to say that's why Hawaii was picked as my least favorite location.

. But as far as the bugs go - DMIL and DFIL had come for a visit and DMIL is a spotless housekeeper. We'd just moved into Navy housing and our yard was being cleaned up b/c it was full of leaves from the gorgeous trees on the property. Well.... this action got all the bugs going and as we were returning these HUGE bugs were all over the side of our house. EEEEK!!
