Military members and spouses... duty station favorite?

Funny you mention that.

I guess things may have changed but, if my family hadn't moved from Hawaii to Arizona when we did:

I would be deaf (50 Ear infections in the span of a year)
My brother would be blind (he is currently 20-400 vision)
My mom would be dead (major gastro-intestinal problems)

The doctors at Arizona were surprised at how bad of shape we were in.

That and it doesn't help when your mother is immobilized and sees a cockroach walking towards her on the tube going into her mouth. (For those that don't know - the average insect size in Hawaii is about 4 inches long)

So needless to say that's why Hawaii was picked as my least favorite location.

My ex was Air Force, and out of the places we were stationed, I think Comiso Air Station, Sicily was my favorite.

Patrick AFB in Florida was the next favorite...right on the beach!
Homestead AFB was pretty cool as well.

Ahhhh yes, the size of bugs in Honolulu.... DH and I were stationed there for the first year of our marriage during which time he was usually out to sea . But as far as the bugs go - DMIL and DFIL had come for a visit and DMIL is a spotless housekeeper. We'd just moved into Navy housing and our yard was being cleaned up b/c it was full of leaves from the gorgeous trees on the property. Well.... this action got all the bugs going and as we were returning these HUGE bugs were all over the side of our house. EEEEK!!

We returned after 12 months on a humantarian transfer as I needed heart surgery. We lived in Groton until DH retired after 20 1/2 in 1991. Glad to have had the experience of living in HI but after all that time in CT it was home.

Im an AF brat and a Navy wife(retired). I had moved all my life about every 3 years till I lived in Groton CT.
Lived in Groton 2 x's. Then moved to ST Marys GA,
Lived there for 8 years and thought I had found heaven, I had NEVER lived anywhere as long in my life.

So growing up my dad was stationed at the pentagon(lived in Arlington VA) and then as a Navy wife
