I have noticed that there are many Military members and spouses who frequent the CB. I was just a-wondering which duty station you enjoyed the most.

My dh was a Marine.. (hec still is I suppose.. you know "once a Marine always a Marine.. Semper Fi!!)

Btwn 1980-1992 we were stationed at Camp Pendleton,Ca., Kanehoe Bay, Hawaii, and Twentynine Palms, Ca.. twice...
We enjoyed all three.. but the BEST for us was K-Bay. Even the base housing was better than the others...

Anybody else have a favorite??

I was in the Air Force. I guess it just depends on each person and what their likes and dislikes are.

I was in Florida, New Mexico, Washington, New Mexico.

I loved Washington. My home is New Mexico.

Each place is so different that it's really hard to compare them to each other to come up with a "best".

Linda.. you are so right.. I shall now edit to say.. personal favorite!

I'm an Army Brat.

Favorite places:

Ft. Huachuca, AZ
Ft. Buchanan Puerto Rico

Least Favorite places:

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii
Ft. Leavenworth, KS (nothing to do there but visit the prison)

he asked for and got BNAS in Maine and to this day we were always amazed that he got it...of course he spent four to six months in siganella sicily and here there and everywhere.....but for him to be here in Maine was great......that was 32 years ago.....still ....we think that we were blessed to be here......HOME

Thanks folks.. I know there are more military people out there..

anybody else??

Moffitt Feild, in Mountain View Ca, I was in the Nvay, I dont think its there anymore

Navy here,

Port Hueneme CA was home port and where we owned a house

Pearl Harbor HI ( CINC-PAC ) was the most fun

Hmm, well, I'm a navy wife but I'm lucky that I met my DH when he was on shore duty right here in SoCal (teaching naval ROTC at USC) and he decided he wanted to stay here. Good thing, as I wasn't moving! :teeth: He got out after we got married but stayed in the active reserves.

He actually had great duty stations before we got married, Long Beach (So Cal), San Diego and Honolulu. :)

Dad spent 20 years in the Navy. We lived in Connecticut twice, Norfolk, Va three times, Charleston, SC three times, Northern Virginia twice, Pennsylvania once and La Mesa, Ca once.

All were great, but I would say that my favorite was when Dad was stationed at NWS in Charleston, SC. We had a 9-hole golf course, fishing pier within 50 yards of the house, swimming pool, fresh water ponds and a great bunch of kids (well, most of them).

Good Morning, Joan.

Navy wife here, we have lived in Virginia Beach, St. Marys, Georgia (twice), San Diego, southern, Italy, Groton, Connecticut and now northern, Italy.

I liked Virginia, loved San Diego (only lived there 6 months) and have enjoyed Italy, but the place I love the most is my home town in NY and when DH retires in 2-1/2 years that is where we will head.

Yoo Hoo Holly !!!!! This thread is right up your alley !!!

LOL.....sydally9367 is my DD Holly and she is a proud Army wife (former Armey soldier herself). They're stationed at West Point right now and seem to think it's OK.

I know they like it better than Ft. Stuart in GA.

LOL, I was at Fort Stewart too. In Hinesville. I don't recommend it. :) It was okay, but not someplace I have a hankering to go back to.
My teenage daughter was born in the military hospital there. :) That hospital was really good.

LOL Laurie......my grandaughter Sydney was born in that hospital as well. I call her my little Georgia Peach.

LOL, isn't everyone born in Georgia called a Georgia peach?? :teeth:
We used to call Brittany the same thing.

FT.Stewart STINKS MOM!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! We liked Savannah and alot of the islands nearby Ft.Stewart, but the whole Hinesville/Ft.Stewart area is icky!

We've only been stationed at Stewart, DH was in Korea and now here at West Point, so I would have to choose WP as my favorite place and DEFINITELY Ft. Stewart as my least fave!

I have to agree that West Point is a great place......only because it isn't that far from my home town. My favorite time of year in West Point is right now, the fall colors are usually awesome.

sniff, sniff, sniff.....I miss home.

Debbi, I was JUST telling my Mom last night how beautiful the foliage is this year! PM me....I will get your address and send some pictures to Italy for you!

Jason.. Moffett Field is still open, but has been downsized tremendously. The President and Airforce one land there everytime they come to the Bay Area.

To the Army folks.. best medical treatment I ever had was at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu.. Love those Army Docs!!

Best Post Exchange... Hickam AFB in Hawaii or March AFB in San Bernadino, Ca.. seems the AF had better merchandise available than the Navy PX.

I never got to experience life on the East Coast. That is one thing I wish we could have done while dh was still enlisted.

Thanks for all the replies.. great to see so many military folks!

We have a special type of connection, don't you think?

Another Navy wife here putting in her two cents worth!

Our first duty station together after we were married was Hawaii so that holds a special place for both of us. Talk about a honeymoon!

Before that, the hubby was stationed on the USS Independence (which has since been decomissioned) out of Yokosuka, Japan. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit him there and we had a blast - after we figured out the subway system!

Currenty in Pensacola for another 3 years. It's starting to grow on us, but we both really liked Hawaii the best (so far!)
