Does anyone know if WDW is going to offer any special admission prices for families with deployed spouses? Hubby is in Iraq, but the boys and I are still planning on going.

Thanks

If you have your military id you should be able to stay at SOG

http://www.armymwr.com/shades/index.html

or get an overflow rate at another Disney property. I believe SOG is scheduled to reopen later this year but they are accepting reservations and putting you up at WDW hotels.

You can purchase discount tickets at your local armed services post--rec services or community services

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. We are staying at the Contemporary. Sometimes when the troops deploy they have free entry for the families left behind.

I would call the main number and ask or e-mail them. I know they did offer free entry during Desert Storm and last year I believe Jan-Apr active duty military got a free ultimate hopper pass good for seven days or maybe it was ten I can't remember but the families or up to five guests got there tickets at half off. My husband was able to get a week off from recruiting which was a miracle so we went last Jan. and had so much fun went back this Dec./Jan. and bought our tickets through connections which was cheaper than the SOG price!
I see you are from Havelock, NC; we were at New River Air Station. I am proud of you for still going to Disney World with your husband being in Iraq. I know this a difficult time for everyone especially the children. I hope you have a great time!!!

I appreciate your information and support. I was blessed to talk to my husband today. He drove 2 hours to a phone to call his son on his 10th birthday.
I will check at Contemporary when we arrive.

The SoG office at the contemporary sells tickets at a discount. The discount isn't huge, but I know we are going to buy 6 day park hopper plus passes for $282 and I think it's normally like $310. Good luck! (However, my husband isn't on active duty-yet- I have no idea if they have an even better offer to families whose spouses are deployed.)

SullyBear,

You can also check at www.mousesavers.com - not too long ago I remember seeing a special for military people, but it must have expired because it is not listed anymore. Hopefully Disney will do something for our military families - you sacrifice so much even during times of peace! Blessings to your family and safety for your husband.

I appreciate all you prayers and support. Military life is sometimes difficult, but I would never change a thing.

Just wanted to say hi to SullyBear, my daughter was stationed at Cherry Point for 4 years and we did quite a bit of visiting, nice area!

The area offeres a lot if you like the beach, which we all do. Our favorite so far is the Outer Banks.

Hi, I'm so glad to hear someone else is a nut like me
:Pinkbounc
I'm taking my 3 children in mid-March and hubby is uncertain, we started planning back in December/January. We are at Fort Hood and it is a day by day thing here, one day yes, he's going with us, the next day, no, he will have to stay here. I told him, I love you, but when the car leaves on 12 March, if you are in it great, if not, we will miss you, but the Mouse is calling!
My family is going nuts! They want me to cancel! I'm a military wife, I don't need my husband, he something nice to snuggle next to when he is home, never enough it seems, but not an essential for a trip. We are staying on Disney property and I know how to lock doors and keep an eye on my children! AND I must give all respect to a very mature and helpful dd who will be with me.
I can't wait!

I haven't seen any deals as of yet, but Disney has been wonderful, when I explained we were unsure of husbands status for the trip, they told me to book for 4 and if he shows they will move us, if need be!

I will keep looking and keep you posted!

I can hardly wait, if they offer free passes for deployed spouses, I see another trip in my future! (I have been doing this for way to long with way to many deployments to hot spots!)

BTW, isn't funny, we (military wives) can always find a Silver lining to any cloud!

Thanks and Good Luck,
Amy

Praying for all Military members and families!!!!
Supporting my soldier, while always praying for PEACE!

Hey my fellow nut:

We have been planning this since we lived in Japan last year. I also told my hubby, sorry but we're going without you. Of course he was proud and 100% supportive.

Military wives are truly remarkable. My husband always said, "you can start living or you can start dying". As a matter of fact, we met on a blind date 15 years ago today. We told each other to look at the moon for our anniversary hug and kiss.

Great to have another friend,
Terry

I am also a military wife, and I have never laughed so hard!
I admire you guys for going without your husbands. We are planning a trip in July and my husband told me if he wasn't back from Kuiwait, that if I went without him, I wouldn't have as much fun! (I think he loves the mouse more than I do, if that's possible)
Wahoo 776, I hope your husband is in the car with you when you go, and SullyBear, isn't it a great feeling when you get a phone call! I hope you guys have a great time and your husbands come home safe.

You can buy a 6 day stars and stripes pass for 270 adult and 214 kids. You can buy them at the contempory where SOG's temp office is. S&S passes are the same as the Ultimate Park Hopper. My heart goes out to all you military wifes who need to support and carry on the family lifestyle in your husbands absence. Hopefully we can find a way to divert this war and get them all safely home. My dad is retired Coast Guard and although he was never in a war or out there fighting, I remember how my mother acted when he was away on the ship. She still had a daughter to raise.

I have a question, my daughter asked me to go with her, husband is not a Mickey fan, and help her with my 3 grandkids in May, she is active duty USMC for the last 10 1/2 years. We only have SOG/Contempory reservation for now in case we have to cancel. I see that the full amount is due in April, if she gets orders after we pay will they refund the money under the circumstances? The kids are too yound 2,8,9 for their own ID cards so I could not take them with her reservations.

Markey:

We are staying at the Contemporary and they said if the active duty person gets orders and you need to cancel you will receive a full refund. They are very understanding and supportive. In my case being a dependent I have power of attorney and therefore get the same benefits.

khawk:

Thanks for the info. It will cheaper for us just to get the four day hopper from the Contemporary. I was hoping they would discount it further since hubby is in Kuwait.

I appreciate your words of support. We need to finish the job we started 12 years ago. I only pray for all of our military to come home safe, when the job is done.

I read on another site that if she gets called up for active duty that you will be refunded the full price, but she has to show them her orders. I think the site was www.mousesavers.com. but Im not 100% sure.

What is the Shades of Green email address?

reservations@shadesofgreen.org But dont expect them to write back quickly. I wrote them on Feb. 9th and have not gotten a reply yet. I called them the other day and had to wait for 1 1/2 hrs to get a real person on the phone.
