Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, if not admin please delete..

My Husband is 100% disabled with Service connection.. but his ID does not have the code DAVPRM on it . I am planning our next trip and understand he may be able to get Military tickets..

I also understand there are two types.. Armed forces tickets and regular military discount..

I cant for the life of me work out what the difference between these tickets are.. also having trouble understand if he is eligible. As one site will say yes, and then another site will say no.. can anyone give me some clearer information?

Thanks very much ..

Here's info form the Disney website for Military Discount Tickets.
It states tickets are for Active and Retired Military. It doesn't address Disabled - Service Connection.

Here's another link. Scroll down to the "Shades of Green Benefits"

Maybe DLR has a similar thing. This one sounds like the one you're possibly able to use. If it's not just for WDW.
Given you have the appropriate documentation, a DD Form 1173 or DD Form 2765.

You might want to give Guest Services a call for clarification.

This is for Disney World, but it's what I typically refer to when someone asks.

The Salute tickets are what you are likely wanting ($156-180 or so for a 3-4 day park hopper, requires service member/spouse to be with the group). These can be bought at the gates, though you can also get them at your local MWR.

The other tickets (just the discounted regular ticket) is only a few dollars off each ticket, but can be used without the service member/spouse in the group; you would use these for gifts or such, or when you go over your yearly Salute allotment.

Disney requires the DVPARM on ID but all hope is not lost. Go here http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Special/Disney-World-Military-Discount-ID-Guide-For-Veterans.html and it has the steps you need to get an ID that has DVPARM on it if he is elligible for such. You would also get your ID as a spouse and dependents between 8 and 21 (26 if in college) can get theirs as well.

Just be aware 100% disabled and DVPARM are not mutually inclusive. You can be classified 100% disabled but not qualify as DVPARM. That information is here

Your best bet would be to call them and ask. They are very strict on the military discount at Disneyland in recent years, must have the correct ID. They have a paper that they look at that shows what IDs are accepted. I was denied when i showed them my VA ID. But I see no reason as to why a Vet with 100% disability would be apporoved for the discount. And dont forget to use the discount if youre staying at the hotels on property. I did that while I was on active duty and it was very nice. Hope everything works out!

In my experience whenever you call Disney you get a different answer every time. I would email your question to them instead so you have a record of it.

My co-worker is at the ticket box right now and he just texted me saying that they do not offer military discounts at the gate. He was tomd by the CM He/we have to go to an MWR office on a military/uniformed services base for discounted tickets.

Unless something has changed since June, that is not true. We purchased military salutes tickets at the front entrance of the DL parks. Husband showed ID and the 3 day parkhoppers were in our hands in under 5 minutes.

If it is the other type of military discount tickets maybe those cannot be purchased st the gate. But Military Salutes can.

For hotel discounts you have to call to book at that rate and show ID upon check in. Well worth the call to save a lot!!

Well I tried. I just went to two different box offices a few hours ago and both CMs said that I have to go to a military base for the those tickets. I spoke with their supervisor and showed her the webpage and then she zoomed in on the section that said the Military Salutes tickets MUST be purchased at MWR and cannot be purchased on site. So I am rather confused of whats going on. Oh well, we're in

Maybe it's changed? It looks that way. I know many years ago, military ticket (books) were only available on military bases, not able to be purchased at the gate.

I found this (bolding mine):
  • Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased at participating U.S. military sales outlets only by Eligible Service Members (defined below) or their spouses (but not both), for use by themselves and other family members and friends, as provided herein. These tickets may not be otherwise transferred, distributed or resold.

Oh wow, that's a shame. I wonder when policy changed? That's bizarre that we got them in June without issue at the gate. @Sergio S, did they say this was new?

And we don't have ITT near us! When we go to WDW we use SOG, I'm wondering if we can use them for DLR too.

Ok, I was so puzzled I went to Disney Mom's Panel to see if they had any info, and this may explain why we could get tickets at the gate. (We live more than 50 miles from a military ITT base.)

COPIED FROM THE DISNEY MOM'S PANEL SITE:

    Candace from CO Asked“
My husband is Military and we are wanting to purchase the military discount tickets. We want to purchase them there at Disneyland when we arrive which I have read we can do but my husband was told otherwise. Are we able to buy them at the gate?”
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Candace! First, I would like to sincerely thank your husband for his service to our country! I am so glad that the Disneyland Resort offers military personnel and their families a chance to visit the parks at a special, promotional price.

Theme park tickets for active and retired United States military personnel may be purchased at a military base ticket office. I also spoke to a Cast Member who informed me that Military Promotional Tickets can also be purchased at a Disneyland Resort ticket window, but only if a military base that sells these tickets is more than 50 miles away from where you live. To locate the nearest base that sells Disney Military Promotional Tickets, please call the Military Ticket Program at (619) 767-6000. Additionally, according to the website, "the actual prices charged at the individual U.S. military base ticket offices for Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be less than the prices set forth in the Offer Highlights." So, it may behoove you to purchase your tickets at the military base if that option is available to you.

There is also military promotional pricing on the Disney PhotoPass Collection product. This is a phenomenal deal that provides access to all the PhotoPass photos you have taken during your trip.

Finally, don't forget that valid military identification is required to activate these tickets when you enter the park, so make sure to bring that along.

I hope this information was helpful. Have a wonderful time at the Disneyland Resort!

    -Linda M.

It has said that for years, but they've sold them at the ticket booths anyway. If that has changed, it's too bad that they did it in the middle of the promotion year.

I wonder how they confirm this? Or if they just trust when someone says "my nearest base that sells tickets is over 50 miles away".

So I went to inquire at City Hall (big mistake since it was kinda packed)...I guess I wasn't the only one with questions about military tickets. There was another young female naval officer questioning this policy and the CMs there told her she had to go to Huntington Beach for discount tickets because that's within 50 miles. She was not happy with this answer (and neither would I). When I when up, I was told LA AFB has discounted tickets. So after 10 minutes of agonizing "discussion" with 4 different CMs...I admitted to defeat and realized I should've gotten in line for the Railroad then waste my time here.

Hmmm... had to look up "LA AFB". It's in El Segundo (near LAX, apparently).

The only thing I can think of is by your address on your drivers license?

@Sergio S where are you based? Do they have a ITT there?

My dh is retired, I don't think that makes a difference but just wondering what in the world happened!

LA AFB is pretty small but we have purchased tickets there in the past.

It is good to know it may be not be possible to get tickets at the gate anymore. I don't believe we have every tried to purchase at the gate,. but I have heard of people doing it in the past.
