I'm an advisor for a college Veterans Club and I'll be taking a group of student veterans to Disney for the Student Veterans of America conference in January. We've got 2 students who are still active and qualify for the military ticket, so we're wondering if they can buy the tickets for the other vets who are going (they are not retired or 100% disabled, so they don't qualify themselves). I know they can purchase up to 6 tickets, but here's my main question: the members are heading down at different times, so does the active member who purchases the ticket have to be present for all of the others to be able to use the ticket?

I called and asked a cast member and she said as long as they have the paper ticket instead of the code, it would work. However, she sounded really unsure about it, so I wanted to see if anyone else has done this successfully. I would hate to see the guys shell out $200 for a ticket, then not be able to use it because the others don't come down til a few days later.

Thanks for the help!

The military tickets are sold as 'certificates' that must be activated. For them to be activated, the military member must be present with their ID. (Edit: A military member's spouse with their spouse ID is also ok.)

You might want to go here http://www.militarydisneytips.com/ and look at the details, and maybe ask your question. The military member has to be there to activate the tickets, but they don't have to be there to get into the parks. You activate them at a ticket window or guest services at DTD. They would need the identity of the people who are going to use them, though. There have been some conflicting reports as to whether everyone has to be there when they are activated, but Steve over at the site above would know for sure.

As long as they are all present for the tickets to be activated at guest services, then the active duty members do not need to be there for park entry.

When the voucher (what you get at ITT when you purchase the Military Salute Tickets) is activated at guest services at Disney, they then give you an actual ticket (a hard, credit card type.) Once they have their own ticket they can get in on their own.

The military member has to activate them but I've never had the other people have to be present. Most of the time, it's my kids who are off running around but one time it was my parents and another time it was some friends who were back in PA and would be using them months later. They wanted everybody's name and birthdate last time. This is all subject to change at any time...

The policy is that if we're activating X number of the tickets, X number of people need to be present. I double-checked after the last thread I posted on where this was discussed. :thumbsup2 (We don't enter demographic information - name/birthdate/etc - for each ticket anymore, though.)

The reason for conflicting reports on this is because some CMs will bend the rules a bit. I've activated tickets for folks who've told me their wife is in the bag check line, kids had to go to the bathroom, etc.

Again, actviations do not need to be done at Guest Relations, which is more service recovery. @jmccoy18 All ticket windows can assist with activations.

We (I guess by that, I say I) definitely count heads at the window. I only add demographics if prompted to do so, and havent been lately. (Definitely will for FLR tickets tho.) Thankfully, many of the guests seem to know this, and they corrale all of them to the window for me. Bring your guests for the total number of tickets and bring your active military ID. Once your certificates are activated, I guess the world is your oyster.

Yes you are correct, I was just thinking about when we did it at guest services at DTD.

There was a thread a few weeks ago where people were saying the tickets purchased by the service member/spouse from Shades of Green were live and did not need to be activated...

Yep, I'm pretty sure Shades of Green does sell live tickets, not certs. We can also sell live Salute tickets at the ticket booths, although we have to charge tax on them. (I don't think SoG does, but I don't know that for certain.)

Hmm. I just had a family from Shades of Green bring their certs over to the window. But it's possible the guest bought them early so that they could book FPs and was sent certs, I'm not sure. They appeared to be in MDE already. But they were definitely staying there, brought their certs, and all their family members, to activate them at a window.

We purchased three Salute tickets at SOG this past Monday ,December 7th, and received regular ticket media. In the past we received the Salute cards that had to be activated.
