Military booking question

Hello all! Question about booking room only reservations. We are military and have booked two rooms at Poly for 17-22 October. We have been unable to get the military discount for our dates at ANY deluxe resort nor did a pin we received work for our dates. My question is, I am being told we cannot add dining plan to room only reservation because we were unable to book discount. Is this true? Is there anything else we can do besides move to a hotel IF we can get military discount there? We have 5 adults and one child going if that matters. We will be going back to Disney in February for 3-4 days for the princess half marathon. Any ideas? Options? Hit me up with your expertise please!!

PS. Only reason we want dining is because father in law is coming and he would have a heart attack at food prices or refuse to eat if he knew how much it costs even though we are footing the bill! We just want it taken care of ahead of time.

Sounds right to me. With AP ticketless packages with dining , you can only get one if you are staying on an AP rate or booking a full price room. Sounds like they may have some kind of similar policy for the military packages. But since you are paying rack rate, you might have been told wrong. Or they may have a different policy for military that only allows that with the military rate.

why get at least 1 AP since you are going back in Feb and see if you can use the AP discount? You can hav ethe AP discount added if there's availability before you buy it as long as you have it at check in.

The problem with the discounts for your dates is there is a huge convention over your dates and almost all the resorts are sold out the night of the 21st.

What you could do is maybe break your stay up see if you can get the military discount for Oct 17-21 so you can get dining those days at least then pay for a room you currently have for the night of the 21st

I'd also price it out with Free Dining and see with 5 adults if you don't come out better. since you need two rooms it would probably not be cheaper but it's worth pricing out. I just priced for your dates and had no availability but changed to checking out the 21st and a lot of resorts opened up including most of the deluxes, csr, cbr, and the values except LM

This sounds right to me too. We were fortunate to book military rate with dining in November. Is staying at a moderate an option? Maybe they have the military rate with dining available. Good luck!

If we add a one day magic your way ticket, does everyone in the group have to get one? And can we save those and use them on a different trip? If we buy one AP pass, we can add dining to the entire group then?

We don't *need* tickets because we can buy the 4 day tickets for $156 here before we leave. We could use the extra one day ticket on arrival day or save it for our princess marathon trip in February so it would not be wasted.

But, based on the info above about the convention, I tried to book online with the PIN we had and exclude the night of the 21st and it worked! So I am going to see if we can do a split stay with two separate ressies to get discount. First would be Oct 17-21 with military discount (PIN if mil discount is sold out) and the last night would be a separate room only booking. Keeping fingers crossed until tomorrow so we can see if this will work!

That's what I would do and just add dining to the Military portion since you don't need tickets. You will probably have to walk the CM through that though since their reservation system isn't the best and whoever you get might not know that it's that one day that's sold out. Good luck!!

We still were not able to get the military discount but were able to book the pin for the first portion and then do the room only for the last night. We were able to get the room ressies, one day park tickets, and the dining plan for about $400 more than the room only reservations we had before! Now we have extra tickets to go on our arrival day that we couldn't have done with the 4 day military tickets. Sooooo glad we were able to use that PIN and save $$$. (it took our TA 2 hours on the phone with Disney to get it all worked out!)
