Miley Cyrus concert dissapointment

But what has she done that has shown she is not accountable? Or do you mean she should dress and act like a 9yr old, even though she is clearly not? She needs to be able to mature and act her age, and not have to pretend to be a young child.

..Wow...you can't honestly believe that is what I meant !!....:confused3

If you read a few posts up, you will better understand what I mean. We all know Miley is maturing...no one wants to hold her back....I just think that Miley should remember that her young fans are still watching her and that she still has the power to influence them. She may be trying to move towards a more mature audience, but in that process, she still needs to be accountable for her example to those younger fans. After all, she sought them out for years and allowed her fictional character to be blurred with reality. She knows that when she looks out into the sea of her fans, they are not teenagers and adults yet. They are still young girls - the same young girls that have followed her everywhere..from the Disney channel.. to her 3D concerts..to theaters... I don't think that it is unfair to ask her to remain responsible with her example as she makes her transition. Accountability to those you know you influence is always a good thing!

Wow, really? I have no idea what she has done that you think indicates a lack of morals.

I can say, I do not know much about her, but let's start with wardrobe. I have seen way too many pictures of her and her little sister dressed in clothes that I consider risque for someone in their mid 20s not their mid teens! I do not care how much money you want to pay me, I will not allow myself or my child to be dressed in a manner that resembles a hooker on the corner! Where are her parents and why are they allowing her to be dressed in this way?! Is the money really worth that much?

Now let's more on to all the obviously sexual pictures she took of herself and sent to boyfriends, blogs, etc. All I can say here is...Really?! You are famous, you don't think that will leak out? Besides, what is a 15 year old doing sending her boyfriend a picture of herself in her underwear?! If my daughter did that she would not see the light of day for a long time to come! Although I would hope that she would have the morals and the high self esteem not to feel the need to do that in the first place. I would hope she would value herself more than that and want to attract and keep boys interested with her mind, not her body.

I have to agree for the most part. Most parents wouldn't take their kids to a concert without checking out the performer and the content first, just to be sure that it's age-appropriate. Unless it's The Wiggles or something actually sponsored by Disney (like Hannah Montanna) it's not a good idea to assume anything without doing your research first. I'm not a Hannah/Miley fan, but even I knew that she doesn't do the Hannah material in concert any longer. I've had to warn several friends who were taking their kids to see "Hannah" just so the parents could prepare their kids that it wouldn't be Hannah afterall. The information is easy to find, so I assume that anyone who was shocked didn't read reviews of this tour before going to see it.

I can certainly understand that if you've been familiar with a performer, you might assume that since they've been age-appropriate in the past that they'll continue to be. I think many people just don't think about the fact that her previous tour included Hannah Montanna. This tour doesn't claim to. It's just Miley. So you can't assume things about Miley's tour based on Hannah's tour. You have to look at them as different roles, even though they are played by the same person. It's like an actor - no one would assume that every movie starring Amy Adams was family friendly just because she starred in "Enchanted". Just because Miley performed as Hannah doesn't mean all her performances will be that family friendly. So even though I can understand why people would make the assumption they did, I don't think you can really blame anyone but yourself for assuming it.

MTE

dd is going to see her tonight and when I purchased the tix I knew exactly who she was going to see, including Metro Station because I had done some research. This was never billed as an HM concert so why would anyone take a 9 year old HM fan without first making sure it would be age appropriate :confused3

As much as I agree that teens today have very low standards in how they dress/act, that is the reality of living as a teenager in the 21st century. If compared to any average teen, at least in my area, it is not out of the ordinary to find those things. She isn't posting them on the internet, and it is not her fault for why things get leaked. She is living as a teenager, and it's not fair for her to compromise that just because she is afraid of paparazzi and what will be leaked. As far as I'm concerned, these 'risque' behaviors were not posted on billboards or in magazines on the grocery store shelves, they were on the internet that would come up if you googled them. So, for an 8 year old who see's Miley as a role model, she should not find Miley's life as inappropriate.

Concert was a hugh disappointment! Dad and Daughter's opinion. Do not take your child. If there are any concerts left, you'll lose the money based on the way the tickets were sold in that they could not be resold.
This was obviously planned so once word of her risque show got out, parents couldn't sell the tickets and would come thinking it was not as bad as others said.
This will be a hugh backfire as most parents and parcularly the children (which was the majority of the folks there) will not continue to allow the under 10 crowd to follow her and I know most I spoke with were disappointed there was no Hanna Montana (Disney would have wanted royalities was the real reason behind no HM).

Billy Ray obviously thinks she needs to move away from Disney but reality is that is what built her and that is her only real audience. Now that they are ignoring the majority of that group, it will be only a matter of time before she becomes a "has been", just like Daddy.

Sorry, I know this is not a popular opinion and I really hoped she was going to be different. If she had good guidance, she would have continued to milk Disney and HM franchise for another 3 years or so as it was very lucrative for her and Billy Ray. Now, Disney will not be renewing the show, regardless of what spin Billy Ray puts on the last season.

I took my daughter to see Miley about a month ago and I totally agree. It was awful. If my daughter would have been a little older than 4 we might have had some discussion about things but she didn't get it being only 4. She should have toned it down a little. Her brothers band....all I can say is...glad his sister is famous or he would be still playing in a bad bar somewhere.

Frankly, I don't get why on earth people are taking 4 year olds to rock concerts??:confused3 To me, that seems just as inappropriate.

I have a friend that recently she and her friend took their 5 year olds. She said the place was filled with little girls even as young as 3.

People, this is Miley Cyrus, not the Wiggles!

3,4,5...IMHO, it's just ridiculous that moms are taking preschoolers to rock concerts.

I don't think she would have been able to milk the series, and why should she? She has enough money. That isn't what she wants to be doing now. And yeah, she'll be a "has been" - but that's almost inevitable regardless of the choices she makes now - very few child stars have made successful transitions. My hope is she doesn't go the Lindsey Lohan route - I hope she is more grounded than that. But her chances of being Jody Foster are.... I think Jody Foster may be one of the few who has pulled it off and made the transition from child star to adult star - without apparent self abuse or scandal (unless you count being lesbian, but IMHO, that's been handled with grace and class and isn't scandalous at all).

You couldn't pay me enough to allow me to have my own kid be a child star. And if you are worried about your kids choosing child stars as role models - I'd play the odds and not encourage it through taking them to concerts - because these kids usually turn out to be hot messes.

And frankly, the photos of "inappropriate Miley" have been all over the internet for two years. This concert - billed as Miley and not Hannah, really shouldn't be shocking anyone who was paying attention.

I completely agree...and some of the same people who spend lots of money taking preschoolers to concerts like this will complain about Miley not being age appropriate. :confused3

I understand Miley wanting to make the "transition" to more adult music, etc and want to be taken more seriously as an artist. I think the BEST move for her to make this transition is to step out of the spotlight for a year or 2. During that time, write new music, for herself and others...even record a new album. Then, after 2 years, release the new album and ACT like an adult...
