Miley Cyrus celebrating b-day in CA Oct.5

It wouldn't be ridiculous if 100% of the profits went to charity. A big chunk of your $250 goes to pay for sound and lighting engineers, musicians and dancers, promotion, and the list goes on. I'm curious as to how much is actually going to charity.

Considering this is at DL, they do have their own staff to provide all that. I am sure DL has $ for labor to cover special events and therefore a good portion of the $250 is not for labor. As all other special events held at DL where proceeds go to charity, I am sure it is a big chunk of the admission price.

I understand that charity events can get very pricy. However, they should have done this event somewhere else OR choosen a different day/time. They could have done it during the weekday from 8pm-2am. They could still have their charity event and NOT have to kick thousands and thousands of us out 7 hours before normal closing time. (we arrive the 4th, our trip planned months before this was announced, our flights non-refundable :sad2: )

Contact Disney and let them know. Call and write and email like crazy. You deserve SOMETHING for this hiccup.

On the day of, storm guest relations.

Not only that.... Her real birthday is not until November 23rd. Jumping the gun just a little eh? 50 days early in fact! :lmao:

Better in October than once the holidays get into full swing, though. It would not be pretty if this were to happen what, 4 days before Thanksgiving?

Honestly, since Miley being a role model came up. She's 15. She knows she has fans that are as young as 5 and honestly, 5 years old shouldn't even have to know that she's posting pictures of herself half naked on the internet or what she does outside of Hannah Montana and Disney. 5 year olds don't read TMZ.

Yep. My 4 year old boy absolutely adores her (he knew who she was before he'd seen even a snippet of the show, it's very weird, like some sort of 99 monkeys thing, LOL) and has watched the non 3D concert on On Demand once or twice (hubby and I haven't noticed any writhing on stage, but maybe she does it in 3D?). And no, he doesn't know anything about her personal life!

Considering that I'm spending 191 for a stinkin' Madonna ticket a month after this event, and she's not even going to be at Disneyland, I'm no one to talk about role models (I managed to use Madonna as a fashion and fitness role model without needing to roll around in the street or any of the other stuff...it's amazing how many kids can watch famous people withOUT emulating everything) or how much money to spend on a concert. And Madonna's show won't go towards charity either!

Dang I wish Madonna were going to be at Disneyland...

Oh, and for those who are really not liking the idea, substitute Johnny Depp or heck maybe Annette Funicello for some here, for Miley Cyrus, and see if your view changes just a bit.

Saturday, October 4 is Gay Days in Disneyland.

Sunday, October 5 is Gay Days in California Adventure.

Perhaps having the party on Sunday rather than Saturday is Disneyland's way of NOT sticking it to the Gay Dayers.

So... lets see... I hope

DCA Capacity > Regular DCA Guests + 30,000 Gay Dayers + People booted from DL at 5pm

Wow... DCA is gonna be rockin Oct 5.... Get your fast passes early!!!:thumbsup2

bumbershoot-lol i used some ppl who many here wouldnt like for my role models but who cares there not my boss lol
and ya i was almost ready to spend 200 on a ticket some where else but couldnt go..tho it was far from disneyland.

I like MC and I think if i had a daughter id rather her like her then half the girls out there today.
we have the glasses for the concert on direct tv. missed the concert becouse other shows (i think big brother lol)

but hay i like her music my self and like i say about britney spears I CARE not for the personal life i care for the tv and the music. and she dose have talent

Such as? Considering its 6 weeks away you can make changes to your schedule. Plus...the event is on a Sunday!

You know what instead of complaining to Disney, why don't all of you who had been inconvenienced by this and are upset, why don't you write to the charity and let them know to find another location????? How about that?

Seems pretty petty to complain about this.

As for the park closing early that day.......
Grad Nights
Movie Premieres
Private Parties

It happens. If someone or group wants to pay the price for it, Disneyland is rented out. It's business. It's not that they don't care about anyone else. They make a decision that will be smart business-wise.

If you are on vacation there on that day:
1 - they have now given people notice to plan accordingly
2- they are extending DCA's hours so people can enjoy the evening there
3 - fireworks are never a guarantee
4 - shift the day around to enjoy DL earlier and DCA later

As for the event, $250 is nothing to a lot of people (myself excluded). And remember, a portion of that is a tax write off because it's considered a charitable donation.

Ariel is a cartoon character. Miley is not a "character."
Actually, she sort of is. People don't know Miley Cyrus. They know the character that is in the public eye. Just my thoughts on that.

Well...just my .02:

Used to love her. Don't anymore. Glad my trip is not affected by this.

The End.

-Eeyore ;)

never loved her but :thumbsup2

Dear Park Guest,

Here at Disney money is our number one priority. We will do what we want when we want to do it and nothing you can say will change that. You will continue to visit our parks and buy our merchandise.

We apologize for the short notice on the Miley Cyrus event. Our large events are usually arranged months in advance and this one is no different. Get off your high horse for a moment and consider the impact of this event on us. If we had announced this several months ago when we were hiring staff, designing marketing materials and negotiating labor rates with our union staff, imagine the impact this would have had on ticket sales and reservations. Our park could have potentially been empty on this day due to the early closing. We got burned with the Pirates of the Caribbean premiers and are not about to lose money on something like that again.

We can afford to tick you off because there are millions (yes millions) out there that either don't know about this event or don't care and will still come to see us on this day.

We're Disney. We don't have to care.

Sincerely,
Disneyland Public Relations

PS: Thanks for the cash. We'd like some more. Please visit one of our Disney stores in a mall near you. They will never close early.

omg that was hilarious:lmao:

I agree with pretty much all sides on this issue but am focusing my anger on Disney raising ticket prices while I was moving and didn't have internet...as an aside and a little :offtopic: , while back-to-school shopping this last week I swear that girl's face was on merch in every store I stepped into! I could not believe the broad cross-marketing of her brand. I thought she was dropping in popularity but clearly, I am wrong...

Ugh, this party has messed me up. We were going to do C.A. on SAT, and DL on Sunday, so we were in reverse of the Gay Day event. Now, that plan is sort of messed up.

I hope we can at least see her special fireworks from our premium view room at the DL hotel.

I've read the whole board and this is my 2 cents.

Perhaps the reason why DCA was not chosen was because of the age of children that would be attending her bday bash? I'm sure it was mentioned that the kids that watch her are 6,7,8 and up then wouldn't they enjoy DL more than DCA?

I think at the end of the day it has to be realized that Disney does not have any "off" days. They are not open 6 days a week they are open 365 days a year. It's inconvienent but what else are they going to do? have the party from 12:30am-7:30am in the morning?

I think the whole thing is to make whoever is going happy too, think about it saying that you were able to see miley perform at disneyland to a certain amount of guests. Depending on the amount of guests, short lines, probably fireworks, and i'm sure that they'll be planning to give out something or other to the guests. Also it's nightime and not hot outside :thumbsup2.

It's only for a day, maybe it kinda puts a kink in your vacation but equally it's making someone elses memorable forever. :goodvibes

I'm sorry if your vacation dates coincide with her birthday bash, but at least your still at disney! and not at work (like i will be).

well im sure you will be able to see the fireworks from premium room
we will be watching from hojos im sure if normal fire works can be seen so can these

we were already planing before to just go to hotle and watch them this night since only night to see them/ except dca halloween night-10th) so were ok doing this now.

tho if i had the money id go

I don't see why everybody gets so upset about the Gay Days. They're a very clean group of people and they have been ever since they immigrated here from France.

Some of you are like babies crying over a few hours missed on the spinning teacups. And trashing this 15-year-old kid because she isn't perfect, and talking about her life as if you know her personally. And aren't parents supposed to be their kids' role models?

Parent's are supposed to be but the majority of kids out there emulate what they see on TV. Nobody is forcing this girl to be in the limelight.

Perfect or not there are things a 15 year old should not be doing. You're welcome to let your children behave in this manner but things like that are punished in my household.

nothing she has done is out of the ordenary for kids in todays world if you think it is some of you need to wake up. im sorry but she is a child and its not as bad as alot of kids 14 15 an 16 do.
