Miles + Money

Hi Folks,

I wonder if any of you educated folks could make a best guess for me? I currently have 15k of Virgin Miles. Can I use these off flights for August 2012 when they become available in September? Also, are flights cheaper the further out you are, therefore is it better to book them as soon as they are released? If so, what price are we likely to be charged for August flights using M+M?

Miles Plus Money flights in August will be quite difficult to come by as it's school holidays. I would book as soon as you find them.
As for cost - can't help you there. One things for sure -it won't be cheap!

It really depends when, in August, you are wanting to fly. We paid just under £400 each M+M last August, flying out on 25th August and returning on 5th September.

However, for earlier dates, you will be looking at significantly more.

Kev is right, though, book them as soon as you see them at the right price. If you wait, they'll be gone - and they only release a certain number of seats bookable using M+M.

M&M discounts in August have become almost impossible to get, when they are avaiable the discount is small and they disappear quickly(within hours sometimes)
We have M&M fare's this August but couldn't get economy both ways, had to take PE for the return journey, cost £880 + 4,750 miles pp
As Joh says go late in August if poss, prices drop from around the 23rd.
There is no pattern anymore, no early discounts etc, its just a matter of booking when you are happy with price or do as we will be next Aug and fly indirect, I am not paying £880 again, it was a one off.

Thanks. We're really stuck with the Summer Holidays as we are both teachers! We could go right at the end of the holidays though if that makes a difference.
