My dear MIL was just told that she has Multiple Myeloma. OMG, I always take her to the Dr's, everywhere. Her health has been going down since Nov. she then had to have a pace maker put in. She has two son's and two DIL. My SIL and I do everything for her. There is just one problem. MIL has gotten mean, nasty, miserable, etc. She was getting this way prior to any health problems. No she seems to think it is fine to talk to us anyway she like's, and not to say all the guilt she puts on us. I am thinking about cancelling the trip. I told MIL that I am thinking of cancelling the trip, she said NO. SIL has thought the same thing.

We will be gone for 5 days, she will have no dr's appt. or treatment while we are gone. I have made arraingement's for other female family members to come in and see to her.

I myself have put off getting a pancrease transplant to take care of MIL, not sure if she is aware of all that I am doing. I let everything roll off of my back, I am sorry, I just had to vent. I love her dearly and will do anything for her. She is a sweet lady, but she is pushing people away at a fast rate of speed. She is also aware of what she is doing. I feel like telling her the next time please do not talk to me the way you do as I do not like it.

I'm sorry to read that, MsDisney23. :( Age, illness, mamy things can make people difficult to deal with. I do hope that as time goes on, she is able to mellow a bit, but certainly, illness can, at times, make people worse, unknowingly.

And my best to you too, with your own health concerns. Don't ignore completely. Prayers for you all.

My dear, you NEED the trip! ::yes:: Prayers and PD that you continue to find the strength that's needed.

Geez - don't cancel your trip. You need this. 'Nuf said on this one.

Now, regarding your comment about delaying a pancreas transplant. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? My understanding of transplants is - your name goes on a list, and when you are at the top of the list, if an appropriately typed/matched transplant is available - it is time.

If you have the opportunity to have a transplant that you need - don't turn it down - it is too hard to predict when the next opportunity may arise.

You aren't going to be of any help to anyone if you are too sick.

Good luck!

oops - double post!

You need to take care of No. 1 first. Your health should be your priority. If she is getting vicious, I would tell her like it is. Either be nice, or you are going to have to line up others to take you her, there, and everywhere.

Go on your trip and have a great time. Do not feel guilty. She is not your mother!!

 to you. I agree, you do have to take care of yourself first, but Multiple Myeloma is a vicious cancer...my dad has it. He is doing well now but he was very sick for quite a while. Maybe she is just scared of the disease - not making excuses but some people handle things in different ways. PM me if you would like to talk. God Bless.
