MIL comments on Mother's Day gift

I wish I could share some stories but I wasn't smart enough to pick an anonymous name when I joined up. Someone out there might recognize me.
But lets just say our mothers day party yesterday was like weekend at bernies but the guest of honor was still alive.

:rotfl2: I know how it is ....SIL and I try to keep each other sane at family gatherings. :teeth:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sorry, but I just had to laugh!

My mother made a comment this morning along the same "funeral home" idea. She had knee replacement surgery last Thursday, and this morning I drove to the hospital to pick her up and take her to the place where she will be in rehab for a few days.

On the way there, she said- "You know where this place is, don't you? It's right next to that big cemetary. You'll be taking me there soon. At least it's convenient, being right next door."

I had to laugh because she's healthy as can be. The nurses couldn't believe how fast, and how well, she did with her recovery from knee surgery.

Her only concern this morning was that I get her to rehab in time for lunch! :rotfl2:

My mother-in-law once said to me....."I'm so glad my son married you. I saw all those pretty, brainless girls he hung out with and I was scared." OK, I guess there's a compliment in there somewhere, you old Bat  :rotfl2:

Cantw8,

Tisk tisk tisk. You better watch out you never know where MIL might be lurking.

I must thank you however. Being in a serious relationship like I am, I'm now able to take things away from posts like this an use it in my own life, like learn how to run far far away :moped: :moped: .

I think older people are like teenagers -- they just don't think before they talk. It only gets worse as they get older -- watch out!

I am one of these older people......and I think a lot before I say anything. As you have noticed....I am not saying anything further.

Disneyglobegirl,

Which set. Her parents are remarried so If everything goes well, down the line (long line) I will have two sets of in-laws.
I live that hell...I mean, fun. Double the fun, double the trouble. The best part is trying to remember what you are 'allowed' to mention in the presence of each side (regarding the other side):teeth:

poohandwendy,

Not helpful at all :) :), but aleast I have plenty of time to get ready for that.

LOL...sorry. But, it's always good to be prepared. Maybe you will get lucky and her parents (both sets) are on good terms. That would help tremendously.

poohandwendy,

Thats ok. She has told me that she does have a very close family, but really hasn't said how well her parents get along.

Like I said I know this is way way down the line and I know that the in-laws come with the deal, but I would be marrying the daughter not them.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Well it was floral smelling :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But honestly we were not thinking of funeral homes at all when we picked it out .............well.......maybe a little - :rotfl2:

Just chalk it up that she had a "Sophia" moment! :rotfl2:

However I got to say I feel the same way about candle smells. To me all candles smell alike...no matter what the label says....and they all smell floral. Anytime I smell anything floral I think the same thing....smell like a funeral palor!

What she meant to say was - what a nice floral scent - she just forgot to say it in YOUR native language not HERS - LOL
