Mike' Make Over Madness!

Hi Mike,

I hope you are having a good day!!!! How are things?

I have to say the pepperoni chips sounds darn good, but I don't really like pepperoni......but I may have to give them a try. Who knows, I may like them!!!!

Hope you have a great night!!!

Keep up the good work!

Hi Jamie,

Things are good!! I did have an awkward moment at work this afternoon though. I have not talked to most of my co-workers, any really, about my weight loss efforts, and this afternoon one of the other Hall Directors wanted an ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts so without telling us she had her husband, who was home from work for the day, go get her drink and something for all of us. She remembered I hate coffee but that I am a huge fan of the vanilla Coolatta mixed with the strawberry coolatta, and got me one! This was so kind of her and also I know she is on such a tight budget, so after her hubby left I called her over and said, "Please don't be upset with me, but I hope it is ok if I offer this to someone else in the office. I am not drinking sugary drinks anymore." She said it was totally ok but I felt really bad!! I will probably talk to her about it again tomorrow and grab her an ice coffee at some point to make up. I know I shouldn't feel bad and I wouldn't if I didn't know the $3 she spent on me could be put to better use. Does that make sense?? hehe! I hope so!

Not sure you thought you'd get an earful like that! hehe I do hope that you are having a great night and that you have an excellent tomorrow!

Mike :goodvibes

Oh Mike I'm sorry to hear that happened but it's good that you went up to her rather than giving it to someone else before telling her. She would have probably gotten you another one at another time. Maybe when you to goal you can go out and get one and treat her to something too.

I'm not trying to make too much of blurb about this at work either. I want them to notice, not to have me let them know how I'm doing and what I'm doing, blah blah blah. My two secretaries know I'm working out and drinking lots of water (they are at the front desk and I have to go by them to fly to bathroom :confused3 ) and one of our staff members knows I'm doing this because she is as big as I am, maybe a size smaller, so we are kind of updating each other on how we are doing. She was so thrilled when I told her I was down 7 pounds. She had even approached her doc about lap band surgery and then I told her what I'm doing so that hopefully she would start up again and not do the surgery. So she's giving it a try first and then will see where she is at in 6 months. I'm very proud of her for trying again.

And very proud of you for handling that the way you did - way to go Mike!!!!! You done good.

Keep on
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that post! Glad you understood where I was coming from. I am sure it is nice to have someone to chat with at work about what you are doing. I will probably open up a bit more if we chat again and she asks. My issue with talking more has to do with a couple of things, one being having to explain how my plan works and having people confuse it with something like Atkins (which I know works for a lot of people so no diss there, I just don't like confusion! hehe) and also she is a part of the group of my three other Hall Director co-workers who are on again/off again dieters who go to the gym 2 times a day and are actually at their ideal weight, or a pound over. Yet they go on and on about how huge they are. It is frustrating at times! lol :goodvibes

Hi all!

Just had dinner. Tried a new recipe I found online. I love comfort foods which are usually the starchiest stuff on earth so I have to find alternates (ie. pepperoni chips! hehe) Tonight I took one of my mom's fave recipes, Shepherd's Pie, and made it lower carb with this recipe. The biggest switch out is subbing mashed cauliflower for the potatoes. I did not follow the new recipe to a T because my fave part of the original in the way my mom made it was the corn but instead of two cans of corn I used a half cup. Enough to give me the corn flavor and mouthfeel but not enough to push the carbs over the edge. So the recipe is basically ground beef cooked with smidge of onion, and seasoned well (I used garlic powder, pepper, cayenne, and a touch of italian seasoning), on the bottom. Then the corn and then the mashed cauliflower with a table spoon of shredded cheddar and some paprika on top (this was a single serving bake dish) to give it the brown color potatoes get when baked in this recipe.

Can I say how yummy it was??!! The cauliflower was great and had nice consistency. Ohh, I normally would smother the original in ketchup too. ahh for childhood, haha, so tonight I portioned out two tablespoons of ketchup and dipped my fork in it before taking a bite. Again, when will I learn you don't need a gallon of something to taste it!! Well, wait I guess I have learned that! hehehe

Now I am gonna watch some TV (with my arm weights! hehehe) and then read another chapter of Harry Potter before bed. I have sooooo much to do at work tomorrow I need to get to bed by 11pm. Oh did I mention tomorrow is weigh in day too?? `Oh my!!!!! :scared1:

-Hahaha! Have a good one!

Hello everyone!

Morning peeps!! It is gonna be a scorchah! (Insert Boston/new England accent here) So I hope that everyone is staying cool! :cool1: :cool1:

So the idea of making my next Disney trip a cruise becomes more exciting to me as time passes, especially with what I learned yesterday... one of my fave student workers mom's is a cruise-only Travel agent so she is getting me all sorts of info on the Disney cruises. hehe! Yay! lol

Oh, so you want to know how weigh in went this week? Do I need to say???

Three pounds!! hehe One pound from a new clippie! 16 pounds from the SILVER clippies! :goodvibes I am very pleased especially knowing I went out to eat this week and had Ben n Jerrys with dinner one night! Time to update the Summer and July challenges. Is anyone starting an August challenge? I will have to look!

Have a happy & healthy day everyone! If it is hot & nasty where you are like it is here keep your water intake up so your body is refreshed!

See ya later!
Mike :cheer2:

p.s. The smileys seem to be back to their original order! Cool! hehe

Congrats on another 3lb gone!!! :cool1:

You're going great work. The shepherds pie sounds really yummy!

I can't recommend DCL highly enough! It's very pricey compared to other cruises, but it's such a fun experience! Where else can you wander the Caribbean dodging hurricanes for a week like we did last Sep and still have a great time!

I hope you have a wonderful day today! Keep up the great work!

Way to go Mike!!!!! :cool1:

You are doing a great job!!! Keep up the good work and that new clippie will be yours! :goodvibes

Have a great day today! :sunny:

Hi pearlieq!

Thank you!! ooh, good to know that you have been on the DCL! I may have to pick your brain at some point! It is pricier than a regular cruise but let's face it, it's Disney!!! hehe! The way I see it, I would pay the same for a week at the AKL is a Savannah view room, so why not get the best of both?! hehe!

Great job on the lost lbs. Mike! Good bye, gone forever, never to come back. :cool1:

Just think, you are so close to making that Summer Challenge.

Have fun planning your trip with a whole new you.

How is your 300 Club going? I haven't seen any posts lately. Personally, I think you guys should just keep posting and more will join eventually. The way I see it, for every one of us that is posting journals and messages, there is a person that isn't and is just reading because they are too shy, too uncertain about posting, etc. Those people are still benefiting from what they read though. My guess is (and I don't know from experience) that many of those who have a lot to lose may be the most reluctant to post because of the way that society has treated them and the fact that the journey will take longer than most. But maybe seeing the info that those in your Club (for lack of better words) have to post will help them come out of their shell and share their experience OR maybe they will just benefit quitely. Either way, I think that it could be quite educational to alot of people. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Thanks Jen! You're getting awful close to a gold clippie yourself! I know you'll do it soon! :flower:

Hi lesli!
Thanks for the kick in the pants! In the chaos of this week I had kinda forgotten to post in the 300+ club! I will get in there and do some damage tonight.
Have a great day! :flower:

Great job on the pounds lost Mike!!! That is great news!

I am with you on not telling many people at work either. I have told one person, and the only reason that I have told her is because she used to be overweight as well and she lost 70 pounds and has kept it off. So when good things come in the office and I turn them down, she does not pressure me. She is usually the one that will come to tell me rather than someone else. She knows that I will turn it down but I don't have to explain anything to her. I definitly know how it feels.

I too am going to join the August challange. I am just waiting......

So were you able to watch BB last night. OMG it was soooo good!

Hope you are having a great day! Ya know I don't like meat, but you make meat sound soooo good!!!!!

Dude, you rock!! well sort of, but you're doing really well here!! :teeth: :rotfl: 34 lbs is awesome, I'm thinking i need to finish this dumb 15 lb. clippie and get a new goal, like some gold. Like that guy on austin powers says: "I luv gooooooold" :earboy2:

Ben and Jerry's, huh? hmm, I used to eat a lot of coffee ice cream, Ben and Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch or any Starbuck's flavor. The Starbucks stuff is STRONG! Got a half-gallon of Snelgrove's Peppermint in the freezer right now, i've only had about 2 tablespoons of it so far. Good thing I'm at work right now or I might be tempted.

Been interesting reading the saga of the freshmen here, I never lived in dorms at school, had some friends that did, spent some time hanging out. Sounds like you've got quite the herd to ride on. Good luck!

Oh yes indeed I watched BB!!! And I agree, it was rockin last night!!
I was sooooo excited when Kaysar finally put his plan into action. Eric & his crew of couch sitters totally underestimated him and were too confident. I started out like Eric and now I am ready to see his condescending attitude go! hehe. I can't wait til tomorrow!!!

hehehe! I will have to find some good veggie recipes to tantalize you now! hehe. :sunny:

August challenge here we come!

Well the good thing you are at work! We can't have you eating a half gallon of ice cream now!! hehe! I have never had Starbucks but love the BnJ Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, ooh now I want that kind! lol I am gonna try out a faux Cherrie Garcia dessert recipe that is low carb/very low sugar this weekend. We'll see how it turns out! hehe

WAY TO GO MIKE!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew it had to be a good loss because you were really rocking with the food this week!!!! Good job - BRAVO!!!

And I agree about DCL - I have never done another cruise and don't know if I'd want to. It was awesome. But I did a 7-day so I don't know if I could help with questions that you might have a 3 or 4 day but I could probably answer some questions about the ship or other things.

pearliq - we were scheduled to be on ship last September too but opted to not go after driving through Frances and getting to Florida - it was just too risky the way they were talking about Ivan when we got to Florida and we had to be home the following Sunday. At that point it didn't sound like if we headed west (which is what they changed the eastern too) that we might not make it back around Florida due to Ivan hitting on our way back. It was stressful - so Mike, don't go in September!!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Thanks so much Chris!!!
I should have known you'd have been a cruiser by your nick! The more I read about the Disney ships the more enthralled I get! hehe. I got my Passporter Disney Cruise Line book in the mail today, hoping it will hold me over til I can get planning! lol :goodvibes I am sure I will have some Qs for you eventually! Oh, quick one, is the color change at the Animator's Palette Dinner Service as cool as it sounds? hehe! :flower:
