My Dsis had a few unepxected things come up and she needs for me to extend the final payment date of our package (she just needs an extra week or two) I contacted my TA and he said that Disney will not under any circumstances extend the deadline. He said that they are very strict.

Can anyone who experienced this tell me if this is true? I could pay my Dsis portion if it could not be extended. But I just wanted to know.

Thank you.

I thnk your travel agent should contact Disney and ask. I believe I have read posts here where people have needed some more time and asked Disney and gotten a bit, not sure how long, more time. One problem for you is that since you have booked it through a travel agent, not through disney, that you can't call disney yourself. the travel agent owns the reservation and needs to be your point of contact. You should try calling disney and ask them what is avaiable for an extension and if they will do it will then need your travel agent to actually get it done.

Well they are partially right-- Disney will not extend the final payment date.

But... I know from experience- they will not start to cancel a package until the 30 day mark.

Since there is money on the booking they will send several reminders to the agent and call them before something with money is cancelled.

So, Disney won't start calling until about the 30 day mark.

they will not cancel your trip if you miss your mark...I had this happen one year and I called they said they will not just cancel someones vacation that is almost paid for...also my best friend had to pay hers 2 weeks late and they were fine with it, they did not even send her a letter, she called paid it and went on her trip...they are not strict about it unless you dont pay your DEPOSIT...

I would be careful about not making the final payment. Just because Disney won't cancel until 30 days, that doesn't mean the travel agent won't. In the end they are on the line for the reservation and may not give you much leeway, escpecially if Disney will not "officially" give it to them.

I wouldn't risk it. Maybe tell her to borrow the money from a family member or something. Or call Disney and ask for an extension. I wouldn't just let it go assuming it will be there a week or two later. That might be a disaster.

What ever you do it has to be done by your travel agent since they owed the booking. But if it was me I would try to pay it off & have your Dsis repay you. If your travel agent can get Disney get something in writing from Disney (they can fax the information to your TA) This way you are covered.

My friend had only $200 left to pay & she called Disney & ask & they did give her two weeks which is all she asked for but she missed it & Disney cancel her & gave back all her money less the penalty. This is what she told me so who knows? You can still call Disney to ask what if? Even though the travel agency owe the booking. MHO

Especially with a third party involved (the TA), I wouldn't ever, ever chance it. Too many things can go wrong. If you're able to make the payment for her, by all means, do it.

I had an extension when paying for our Disney cruise. I needed like 10 days because we were waiting on an annuity payment, which we were going to use part of in paying for the cruise. They were totally fine with it, and told me they would never just cancel your reservation without contacting you and talking to you about it first.

I *hate* credit cards, but if you know you'll have the $$ to pay it off ASAP, put the final payment on a cc would be my suggestion.

I would pay it off and not rely on your agent or Disney to hold it, to many "what if's" can happen and then you are in a pile of mess.

Thank you so much for the advice and well wishes.

I can pay off her portion but I won't receive my direct deposit until 2 days AFTER the final payment is due. The balance will be less than $200 at that point. Do you think it is worth it to contact Disney on my own? So confused :confused3

Since your TA owns your reservation Disney will not speak with you regarding the issue. I would speak with your TA again.
