Thanks for everyone's help in the past and even recently with my latest posting.... I'm in a bit of a predicament. We booked the FTP for Nov. 8-16. A family of 5, 2 adults, 1 jr., 2 youths.

My hubby has recently had some health problems... and we are thinking we might cancel this trip to reschedule for a time in the future when he will be feeling better. The kiddies are okay with this... as am I. But my hubby is concerned about getting a good deal.

Although, we love a good deal... and we have been told by everyone that this FTP is such a great deal. This would be our first time to WDW for everyone... and I"m not a disney pro. I do know that Disney offers... AP rates and discounts and other ways to save on a normal visit.

We are staying at POR for approx. $2000.00.... for the 5 of us. I know this is a pretty good deal. Only wondering... can we get "a pretty good deal" (if we're flexible).... at other times also? We don't want to cancel the FTP if this is like the "deal of a lifetime".....

If we went at a different time... we might decide against the UPH pass... and so it 's hard to compare... because it's not an "apple to apple" comparison... Also... I see all kinds of comparisons... but they always compare it to "rack room rates".... In the future I wouldn't be opposed to staying at the Swan/Dolphin... or wherever... to get a cheap rate...getting tx thru.. expedia...or hotwire or whatever... Or doing an AP membership... or whatever.

I know I'm having trouble explaining this... but what I'm really wondering is if this is really just so awesome I shouldn't pass it up.

If anyone has any insight on this... let me know... And I do understand that if my hubby isn't feeling too good ...than no matter how good a deal it is... it's not worth it.... But I'm just trying to understand all of this....

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help....

Hi.

I understand where you are coming from because I just had to cancel my Sept trip plans to delay for December and we are hoping to get a good deal as well.

It's hard to say what Disney will do but in all reality I think as long as some decent room codes come out we can do the trip for the same amount of $$ if we buy 4 or 5 day hopper passes.

Having the UPH was nice but we don't tend to go into the parks anyway so a ticket with fewer days will do us fine.

I'm rambling now but I guess that while it is a good deal .. there have been many other good deals in the past .. just not one including the UPH's! Who knows if this worked well for Disney they may do it again? I also don't think the chance for room codes is dead.

I don't think you should worry about getting a good deal in the future. I find that deals are always available. Some are better than others, but now that you found us you'll never pay full price again! The annual passholder (AP) rates are the best out there and only 1 of you needs to have the AP to get a discount on the room. For instance the current AP rates are only $84 per night for the moderate resorts ... that's about $650 for the room for 7 nights. If you have to cancel so your entire family will enjoy the vacation to the fullest, you'll find something good :). I hope your DH feels better soon!

I think the FTP is a good deal (and we did book it at POR for 2 Adults, 3 children. Our 7 night price with the UPH is 1917.00, we could have spent 2090.00 for 7 nights with a AAA room discount and 5 day PHP from ticketmania. So while I think that the FTP is a good deal, I think that their are other deals as well and you could get somewhere around that price without having the UPH. Hope this helps.

I believe with the FTP you can cancel up to 45 days prior to arrival without penalty, so you still have about 2 months to decide. I agree with the above posters, FTP is a great deal, but there will be others to follow. New codes, packages & specials on park passes will come along, tell your hubby not to worry. ~:D~

We got a great rate at the Swan/Dolphin and it's considered a Deluxe hotel. I can't say enough about the great location. We didn't want to go to the parks everyday and the UPH had several options included that our family wouldn't use, so we just bought a Park Hopper pass and stayed at the Dolphin. You can cancel at the Dolphin 5 days before your stay with no penalty.:smooth:

I think I'm in the minority, I don't think it's (much) better than previous promotions. In the past you could get 40-45% room discount with codes or AP. I understand that with FTP you got an get UPH pass for every day, without the package you would frequently drop the first and/or last day (travel time). AP and PH work fine for many people.

FTP works best if you have a full day at both ends and planning on going to DQ more than once.
