Might be cancelling trip :(

Well we were sooooo looking forward to our August trip to WDW this year. But as it usually does, life always seems to get in the way. My wife was laid off two weeks ago. She is currently aggessively looking for work, but only time will tell. She did get about three months severence, so I'm not really worried in that respect. Ideally, it would be nice if she got back to work soon, that way we could bank much of here severence and maybe, just maybe be able to go to WDW this year. (crossing fingers and toes)

We have had to cancel every single trip we have ever planned, so I know a little of what you are going through. It FINALLY looks like we can go next year, but as you said, life has a way of getting in the way! Here's to hoping we all get to go on our trips!

I'm sorry about your wife loosing her job. Hopefully, she will not only find a new one soon, but a better one.
We've had to cancel several trips to WDW. One trip even was close enough that I had all our ADR's booked. No matter what the reason you have to cancel, it still hurts when you have to cancel it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you don't have to cancel it. If you do have to reschedule it, maybe they will have more of the Fantasyland expansion done when you are able to go.

We have a trip booked for August but may have to cancel too. My DH got word of layoffs effective July 1st.

I'm still holding out and hoping we can find a way to swing it.

heres my story...we planned to travel to the US and Disney abt a year back. planned the vacation for June. Me, my husband and 3 kids. First ever trip for my kids. All excited and obsessive compulsive me planned and BOOKED EVERYTHING months in advance. Paid for most things in advance. its international travel for us so its big budget too.
today my husband calls from work very casually, 2 weeks before we r due to leave, and says he forgot to put one of the payments he recieved in the accounts and last year and had forgot about it totally. so the payment due to him is actually half of what he was expecting to recieve. Basically the half we were expecting to finance our vacation with!!!

so basically, the money we were to vacation with, has already been recieved and used up a year back. (my husband is the owner of the bussiness and so his business income is often used personally or vice versa. it is often difficult to seperate the two)

Dh is acting cool and saying we will still go. I am not the kind to vacation unless its paid for upfront. but i feel like i am too far deep in to cancel.

Though we both still have our jobs, we are in the same situation after having to replace our roof. We, too, are holding out hope that we can still make our August trip happen, and we hope everything works out for you.
