Well done if you've made it so far! You need a medal if you do as you will have trawled through thousands of words
I am going to keep the summary quite short - a difficult job for me but if I waffle on too long I guess it won't be a summary!!
Highlights
Staying onsite. Both at All Star Movies and Saratoga Springs; we felt very special and loved the flexibility of the WDW transport, though I am ashamed to admit we never made it to an Early Entry day
I think this has to be my biggest highlight.
Being there for over three weeks! A lot of my friends said, "won't you miss home after a fortnight?" Well, I didn't think I would - and I didn't! Though it was a horrible shock going back to work after four weeks away
It was amazing being able to spend such a long time with my family in WDW.
Experiencing the Christmas Magic at WDW. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party was an unmissable experience and I was bowled over by the Osborne Lights. The Candlelight Processional was equally impressive.
The food! There were so many highlights this trip relating to meals - not just because of the fabulous food but also the experiences we were lucky enough to have. Particular favourites were CRT, Le Cellier, Mom's 50's Prime Time Diner, 'Ohana, Kona Cafe - all for different reasons.
Exploring the resorts. We had not really done this to any great extent before and I've got to tell you, we loved looking round them and soaking up the atmosphere. It will be no surprise to anyone that read Day 6 that my favourite was the Polynesian, with the Wilderness Lodge & Boardwalk scoring highly too.
Meeting new friends I'm sure some people think this is mad! What, meet up with people who you have never met before and don't know from Adam? They could be mad axemen or anything! Well, all I can say is that the Disers we met this trip gave us immense entertainment and we had a really good time. The conversation flowed freely and there was a lot of laughter. I would not hesitate to recommend doing this to anyone! It is the easy option to just not arrange anything but I am so glad we did! Thanks guys for meeting us, you all really were a trip highlight.
Pirate Cruise. The girls asked me to put this
Going to WDW with GrandparentsThis was lovely for the girls and also I think for Julie & Derek.
The Not-so-Highlights
Travelling with others. We had high hopes of this working well but were well aware of the pitfalls before we set off. We had not quite expected things to be quite as difficult as they were though. I don't think travelling with family is an option for us again to be honest; I have deliberately tried to play down the problems and only included stuff when it was humourous but often the situation was stressful / annoying - and I don't want that on holiday again. It did make us realise how much we value our "special" time together as a family though. As DH & I both work full time and he works nights we don't have as much time together as we would like, and selfishly I don't think we are prepared to share our precious holiday time together again. Whether this experience would have been different with other travelling companions though, I can't say
Sarasota Week. We did enjoy a lot of this week but overall it wasn't quite as good as we had hoped. I would definitely go back to Siesta Key though. That was beautiful.
Christmas Day I was very sad to be away from my family - my mum and sisters - on Christmas Day. Quite unexpected but it didn't feel "right" without them.
The Weather! I know it isn't guaranteed to be nice in December and well - it wasn't!! The weather reports implied it was particularly bad for December; I am really glad we've been at Christmas but I don't feel I want to hurry back just yet
Well, that's it! As you see the Highlights are far greater than the Not-So-Highlights! Well, they would be wouldn't they?
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me along the way
and I hope you've enjoyed our trip to Florida.
