We are finally going to take my boys (7 and 9) during fall break. Huge Harry Potter fans! We are going Oct. 17-20. How are the crowds at this time? Will we need express passes? We are staying at my aunt's condo that is closer to downtown disney. I know it's a little bit of a distance, but it's a free place to stay! Also can we get away with doing two days in the park or do we need three? We want to do both parks! We are huge Disney family and go every year, but this is our first Universal trip. Any tips are very appreciated.

Thanks
Sharron

Crowds should be ok, though Touring plans has them anywhere from 4 to a 7 depending on the day..Just be aware since you are there during Halloween Horror nights that the Studios will be closing early.Projected HHN are on everynight during your stay ( It is generally only held in the Studios but POSSIBLY it may also be at IOA this year too-Rumors just for now).It is definitely NOT an event for kids but there is nothing during the day to be concerned about.Depending on your touring style 2 days would be fine, though 3 ideal since you can do anything you missed or repeat your favorites on the 3rd day.

you will see more crowds starting in the afternoon in the parks on the weekends.

peeps are coming in for some ride time before the studios closes at 5:00 pm.

hhn draws in many peeps.

When will they announce IOA is going to do Halloween time. Can we get those parks done in two days with less hours in the park?

at this point, it is only a rumor that ioa will be involved in hhn.
on the dates that hhn happens, the studios closes at 5:00 and ioa could close at 7:00.

if you enter the park early, when it first opens to the public, you should be able to get a lot done in the two days in the park.
you will be able to finish everything in parry hotter area in one day.
it is not a large area and you probably will be able to cover everything within 4 hours.

if you stay away from the weekends, you will be fine.

when disney has mnsshp, party ticket holders for that event can use that ticket to enter the MK at 4:00, even though the event begins at 7:00.

you start to see more crowds in the park during that time for peeps to go on rides.

same situation with hhn.
many ap holders, or special early ticket people will enter the studios around 2-3 on weekends and do rides before the park closes at 5:00.

so when i say there will be more crowds, it is those that are there/studios in the afternoon to hit the rides/shows before they shut down at closing/5.

Official dates for HHN will not be announced until summer...usually late July or early August. You shouldn't have any issues doing what you want as long as you're allowing a full day in each park.

Are HHN only on weekends? We are coming down Columbus Day week and I thought I would do Sun, Mon, Tues in the parks...maybe I should not do Sunday if it will be more crowded with party goers?

HHN is staged on Wednesday (once or twice per event) and Thursday through Sunday. Unless Halloween is on a Monday or Tuesday, HHN is not staged. Sunday will be busy because of the holiday weekend but people coming for HHN that night usually won't arrive until later in the afternoon. Mornings should be fine.

dates will be out this summer.

hhn isn't a kid thing.

there are no children tickets sold for the hhn event.

make the onsite hotel ressie once you know what dates you want to stay there.

don't wait until early september to make them as some dates can sell out.
