Hi all,

We were planning on going to Disneyland at the beginning of December as usual for our Christmas visit, however my husband has a big project on at work and will not be able to have the time off.

Therefore we are looking at going right at the beginning of the Christmas season start at Disneyland. I think we are planning on arriving there on November 11th and going on previous years calendars, it looks like the Christmas stuff always starts on the 2nd Thursday in November. We will be there for 7 nights this trip.

All of the vlogs and trip reports I have watched have convinced me we will still see all the main holiday attractions, Viva Navidad, Small World holiday overlay etc.

I was just wondering about the next important bit, FOOD! From your experience, will the Plaza already have it's yule log on the menu, will the candy cane beignets be available at Café Orleans etc?

Thanks everyone :)

In the past Christmas has soft opened between the end of Halloween and the official start of Christmas. HMH will be up, IASW will have a lighting ceremony, probably the day before it officially starts. It didn't start on a Thursday in 2015 or 2016, so while almost everything should be going by the 11th, It's possible IASW, Jingle Cruise and the tree won't be up yet, because those are last. Typically some of the holiday food will start and some of the pumpkin items will stay around through Thanksgiving. Last year there was a pumpkin yule log and the holiday one started in December. In past years there have been pumpkin beignets and the holiday flavor (it's been gingerbread some years) came along later. The timing the last 2 years has been to have Holidays start before the half marathon weekend. With Veterans Day falling on the weekend this year, we'll have to see when they decide to officially start this year.

Thanks for that really helpful response, much appreciated. We may do the Vegas and San Diego portion of our trip first of all then and then head up to DL and fly out of LAX.

Thanks again!

We are going to be there November 2-11 and I am SO hoping we get to enjoy some Christmas parades and decorations!

Recently, they've been officially starting the Christmas season on Veteran's Day. That's the 11th, which is a Saturday. I'd guess they'd start on Friday the 10th, but to be safe I'd say either the 11th or Monday the 13th.

Christmas starts Veteran's day Weekend. The 9th-12th will be busy with the Superheros run that weekend also! See everyone there!
