I'm looking at booking a week in March, over St. Patrick's day weekend. I know Irish schools will have a few days off, what about other countries, is that weekend a mid-term? Will the parks be very busy?

TIA :thumbsup2

I was there over St Patricks Day this year, Thursday St Patricks Day was pretty busy all day (everyone staying in the main park for the fireworks) Friday wasn't much quieter, Saturday and Sunday were both very busy (despite previous experience of the parks getting quieter after the parade on weekend days at around 5.30pm, we didn't get that this time, ie Fantasyland rides still busy at 7.30pm, and BTM at 60-minute wait times at 8pm etc etc). Monday was our last day in the park and it was what I'm used to - a quiet midweek day when the ride queues are minimal.

this is my trip report from that time this year -

Thanks, I'm hoping to book Tuesday to Tuesday so hopefully we'll get a few quiet days. I wouldn't mind if they're not all quiet. I'm assuming the weekend days won't be anyway! Off to read your trip report now, thanks :goodvibes

I'm going in march .. I think I have tactically booked the only week there are NO school holidays ...

So hopefully it'll be quiet .. please weather - be nice :)

hiya paris

we've been twice in March (both early March) and once (2010) was very quiet, the 2nd time (this year) was mental. have a look at the school holidays bit in the useful info sticky :thumbsup2

hope its quiet for you :)

carefully planned to be in the gap .. it meens taking Emily out of school for 4 days though - but it's our honeymoon and she is only 4 so It wont hurt :)

Well March has gone out the window, can't justify taking DS out of school for a second time in one school year. Even €580 for seven nights in the Cheyenne isn't enough to make it justifiable  Now I'm looking at the end of June into early July....

You'll have Spanish and Italian schools on holiday from mid June and French from end of June to give you an idea of the parks :)

I was there 3 days before St. Patrick's Day this year. It was not a bad crowd then.

Does anyone have any good news? End of June out the window too then. I hate hate hate queues in general so going when the parks are busy is out of the question. I really don't think it's worth it. I pushed the boat out to book September, we'll have 3 full days in the park. If I had known how cheap March was I'd have left it and waited. Is March generally that cheap? If so, there may be no trip to Disneyland in 2012 while we wait until this time next year to book March 2013, I have tears in my eyes at the thought of such a long wait lol

yes, January to March every year is the cheapest time to go to DLP :). From mid-March every year for about 3 weeks they don't run the specific year's events as they run up to the new DLP year starting 2nd week in April. There was also a lot of green hoarding up around the park when we were there, more than I've ever seen before, but this might have been because of the major overhaul of the park to get it ready for the 20th anniversary starting April 2012.

We thought the same thing this past March- we went the first week. It was the busiest we've ever seen it! There were a lot of South Americans, French Canadians and people from Louisiana- we found out later that a lot of schools close around Mardi Gras.

Noodles have a look at the useful info thread at the top of the disboards main dlp page and you'll find links that lead to details for french and european school hols. It all hinges on when easter falls afaicr.
