Going in July staying offsite in a house about 25 minutes away. Is it reasonable still to take that all-important mid-day break to swim and nap and then go back for evening? What about Magic Kingdom with the parking situation? will that eat up too much time?

If you leave at noonish and don't plan on coming back until 5 or so, yes. For a 2 hour or so break, no. Plan 20-30 minutes leaving MK to get to your car, and another 30 to get from your car and back into the park (assuming security won't be too bad that time of day).

If you were looking for a shorter break, taking the boat over the the wilderness lodge is a good chill out option.

MK is the only park where the mid day break is an annoyance due to the extra time to the parking lot. We did it everyday when I went last July. Either back to the timeshare, or one day we went to a movie just to be in AC for a few hours (Endgame)

Yes, we have done mid-day breaks while staying offsite. It’s just as convenient as onsite at all parks except MK, what with having to go through the TTC, but still doable. I think the worst part is getting into a burning-hot vehicle in the Florida sun (instead of a nice cold resort bus!).

Staying offsite, I would only plan on a mid day break in July if I was getting to the parks EARLY, as in Rope Drop early.
Also consider if you want to do any late night rides or fireworks. It could work best to sleep in, relax, swim, and then head to the parks after noon and stay!!
You are right in considering the time element. As above poster suggested, sometimes just relaxing in a beautiful lobby for an hour can be enough.

I personally don’t like leaving the bubble. If I have to stay offsite, I stay the whole day in the parks. If we really can’t manage shows, dining, etc as breaks, we may pop over to a hotel to crash in the lobby. Or even just riding a boat around is enough sometimes.

Most of the time I have stayed off site. And now my parents have a condo that's less than a 20 minute drive to all of the parks, so that's my "resort" now. In my experience going back to the hotel or condo then returning to the parks later has never been an issue... even on New Year's Eve going to Magic Kingdom.

Of course this all depends on how much time you want to spend in the parks and what the hours are. When they're closing at 9:00 I probably wouldn't take a mid day break. But last year I was at my parents' place for 4th of July week, and coming back to the condo to eat dinner was a nice break before going back to a park at night.

This is a tough one and for me would depend on the age of kids, park hours and length of our ticket.

It’s pretty much a given you’re going to have rain in July at some point late afternoon.

My kids are 4&7. They do well with the break but if we just had the day at the park I’d probably try them from 9am-9pm.

My husband though has an aversion to the heat and crowds between 2-5pm so not sure he’d make it 😂.
