we are ariving in the afternoon on a weekday. is there a way for us to get into the park without paying for a full day?

Negatory... whether you arrive 10 minutes before the parks open or 10 minutes before the parks close, Disney wants a full $64 (single park admission) or $94 (parkhopper) from you to get through the gate. It sucks, but it's the way they do business. And, there are many people who are willing to pay that much for a partial day, whether they arrive late or leave early.

And truthfully, even if you arrive in the afternoon, there is still plenty of time to do lots of fun stuff :thumbsup2

Most of the times that DB and I have gone, we've arrived anywhere from 12 to 2. Granted, we have APs, but there was still plenty of time to enjoy a "full day"! ;)

Besides, they don't refund people who leave early, ya know? A lot of people with kids leave in the afternoon or early evening anyway.

It now costs $69 for single park admission. Sad!

If you already are purchasing a park hopper for the other days, upgrading one day is not expensive - I think it's only $10 each.

Yup, if you wanted to add a day it's not that $$ so I would suggest you do that. Just stop at the ticket booths on the way in and ask them how much it would be to add a day, I'm thinking it's about $10.

I usually dont get to the parks on any trip till 1pm or even later. I still find time to do a lot, even on early closing days.

Also, if you're a SoCal resident (or can get one to buy your tickets for you), you can get the 2fer for the regular price of a 1-day park hopper and come back any other day to use the other! :thumbsup2

I completely agree that adding a day (or two) is a very good idea:

- Get a lay of the land.
- Get Nemo or Aladdin or Toy Story out of the way.
- Get a parade out of the way.
- Experience an unhurried magical entry into Walt's park.

& do people who say that "we'll just walk around DTD" etc. realize that:

1 - Most kids & most adult men HATE malls (even disney malls) :)
2 - The Parks (both of them) are STEPS away from DTD & the hotels (unlide WDW).

I've never understood how one can one be so close to Walt's Park on the day of arrival (with 6-10 hours of touring time).....and NOT step in for a look see, a churro & a ride on the JC or Pirates?? (or 10 other attractions). It would KILL me not to go in. :hyper:

Regarding the cost for adding a day.....I think the amount depends on the number of days. Adding a 3rd day to a 2 day hopper is higher dollar amount than adding a 5th day to a 4 day hopper. But no matter.....adding a day is totally worth it.

If you are planning on going for multiple days it is only a few dollars more between a 3 day & a 4 day ($10) or a 4 day to a 5 day ($5?). So while you can't get get an "afternoon" admission this is a great choice to get an extra day for just a few dollars.

Amen, that's why we are now proud AP holders. :) I love to get there late at night and be able to go in. Our last trip we got to Anaheim and checked into our hotel at 6 pm, and were in DL with our new AP's by 7:30. :)

I love that Pixie! You kill me, for you ain't a wastin any time, girl! ;) he he! :)
When I visited DL. last year, I had a 2 day p/h. My second day in Anaheim, I visited DTD. It was a bit painful to be so close to Dl (Ha ha) but not go in. But I just reminded my self, that I will have two whole days to which to visit, and by myself, I might add (Bonus for me) so that softened the edge. Looking back at that now, though, perhaps I should have added a third day after all, for visiting Dl.

No kidding Gisele! LOL I don't waste any time, but really DBF was more excited than I was. LOL He was ready in about 5 minutes, I still needed to put on better shoes, go to the bathroom, get my pins, my sweatshirt and my bag. LOL

Yep, we went from a 6 day to an 8 day for only $10 each. We were just going to skip our arrival and departure days - but, dang, that was ridiculous! So much better to have those days and hours for fun and disney-style-luvvvvv pixiedust:

Or pay 269 and get a year (with some blocked out dates) of Disney and DCA. And discounts.

My mother, brother, and aunt gets the package from my brother as my brothers wife works in the corp office of Disney, So they pretty much get them for free or at a heavy discount compared to the general public price. This is how I can get free tickets anytime I go on vacation to Los Angeles.
Looking foward to my next trip to Disneyland this year on Mothers Day. Will be my second visit to Disneyland in 13 months.......
