We had to cancel WDW for next week, but still want to get away for a few days. It has to be reasonably inexpensive, and within say 5 hours of Baltimore/DC. I'd like to keep a room rate under $100 a night. Any suggestions?

We may do the beach, but I'm looking for more ideas.

ETA We've done Williamsburg to death. In fact, DD12 says we've done it to death, resurrected it, and done it to death again.

How about Philly? I live here and there is plenty to do for a few days! I would say the Jersey Shore, but its cold now and not much happening around there. I would definitly say Philly. PM me if you want any info.
Happy Planning!

This is a tough time to "vacation" in this area as it is too cool to really do much of the stuff kids like. New York would be nice but you won't find a room under $100. My other suggestion would be Myrtle Beach but that is over your 5 hour driving limit. It is a tad bit warmer there and there's always lots going on.

I got there once in 6 hours but I was driving FASSSTTT.

How about Pittsburgh? If you like baseball, you can see a Pirates game, you can go to Kennywood, if it's open now (my kids liked that a lot, but I don't know when they open). They also have a science museum http://www.carnegiesciencecenter.org/ that we all enjoyed, especially the SportsWorks http://www.carnegiesciencecenter.org/default.aspx?pageId=39 , which we could have spent all day at.

Last spring vacation we went to NYC, but the hotels are so expensive. Maybe if you stayed in NJ you could find something in your price range or close to it, but then you'd have to get into the city. It was cold last year when we went and next time when we go I want the weather to be warmer.

How about Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway. It is beautiful any time of the year. Especially beautiful in the fall. Lots of things to do. We are going there the first week of October.

I looked and Kennywood doesn't open until early May.

If Hershey Park is open you could always stop there going or coming.

Philly, Lancaster, Hershey, NYC. Plenty to do in any of those places for all ages (even if Hersheypark isn't open yet).
