Microwaves in Moderates?

We recently returned from 3 nights POR and 6 nights CSR. While at CSR I noticed that two different rooms had the same microwave placed in the same spot in their rooms. Did they bring these or are they rented from the resort?

Microwaves are not standard equipment in anything but DVC resorts. I didn't think that Disney liked people cooking in their rooms unless they were set up for cooking like the DVC resorts.

This may be correct. That would explain why I was able to request, and receive for free, microwaves in our rooms at WL and BC (not DVC rooms; just regular guest rooms). I didn't ask for one at the Poly in 2001, since we didn't need it that trip.

I've asked for one at the Poly, but have not had the immediate "yes" response there that I got at WL and BC. The fact that Poly is not a DVC resort may explain this. I've been wondering why this was the case. I'm glad I know! I guess no microwave at the Poly for us this trip. Oh well.
