My neighborhood had a power surge/outage last night. I lost my microwave. Does anyone have suggestions for a new one? I just want something basic - defrost, time cook; nothing fancy. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Is this a sit on the counter microwave or one that has the venting for the stove as well??

We bought one out of the box at HD for like 50$ off the listed price. Easy to clean, easy settings, and plenty big. I wish I could remember which one it is, but I'm not at home to tell you. I'd take a quick look into the clearance section at lowe's or home depot. And if there's a pretty badly damaged box, talk to the department head about knocking a percentage off. There's usually a significant amount of styrofoam between the box and product that there's usually nothing wrong with the product itself... Just a thought.

I'm looking at a counter microwave. I tried both Lowes and Home Depot today but they did not have any damaged or clearance microwaves. In fact nothing in their inventories impressed me. I think I'll go to Erie tomorrow and look. A lot of the neighbors have damaged electronics, we've all filed a claim so hopefully will get reimbursed.
