Microwave install has begun at VGF2

Microwave install has begun at VGF2. Looks like all rooms are getting them.
That, and a toaster, could be a game changer for a lot of people. Now if they would only reverse the trend on those beverage coolers. They are fine for beverages but aren't really meant for the safe storage of perishable foods.

Woohoo! One out of three things I want. But getting the toaster and full coffee pot should be easy requests so much happier.

I think, from reports, the beverage cooler will work for us and what we’d use for the one or two nights

Actually, the ones in BPK aka VGF2 appear to run at a safe temp.

Amy Krieger (DVC Fan) shows that a temp gun registers interior temperatures in the mid to low 30s in the one in the Kriegers' resort studio.

Thanks, Amy and Paul, for helping ease this concern!

Love the Mary Poppins art.

I think it was a reference to all the outrage over them missing, even though most everyone has been told they were on backorder.
Indeed. Merely poking a bit of fun at how upsetting the lack of microwave, etc. seemed to be, rendering the resort studio someplace "the anguished" implied they'd never stay.

To me, lacking the DxS kitchenette sink was/is more of an issue. Not having a sink close to the very limited space for food prep (compared with the DxS countertop with cupboard above) makes the RS somewhat less appealing. Need to rinse/wash out a mug? Gotta go around the corner into the bathroom. Just spilled leftovers you're trying to nuke? Gotta go into the bath to get a wet cloth for cleanup. Something spattered the microwave requiring water to clean well? Etc.

This is me too.
I usually travel to Disney with my mom. At night, we hang in room, watch TV, make popcorn, or heat something up.
In morning, my mom will use for breakfast.
I know it isn't a big thing to most, but it was a reason I would not book the Resort studios, even though they look bigger (are they?) and
have two real beds (which is a good thing for me since if a studio, I'm sleeping on the pull out).

Having a microwave now, I will try to book this first before the other DVC studios to give it a try.

The beverage cooler is fine for us. We don't use milk and will be for a leftover or soda/water.
Now, just need a toaster LOL

Yey!

The resort studios @ 440 sq. ft. are larger than the 374 sq. ft. deluxe studios. Whether they ‘feel’ larger is a different issue - since I suspect having 2 queen size beds in the room will make the resort studios ‘feel’ like they have less space. Although for groups wanting to use the 5th sleep surface for an adult or older child the couch bed in the resort studios seems more workable than the small under the tv pull down bunks of the deluxe studio.

I just completed a 4-night stay there and to me the Resort Studio "feel" the largest of any DVC studio in the system. I know that some of the Ploy studios with the split bath are larger, but the high ceilings on the Resort Studios make them feel especially large. They're easily my favorite studios in the entire system because the fit and finish is excellent, two real beds in a studio is really really nice, and we don't use the kitchenette for anything other than coffee and storing cold beverages (we get a 1BR or 2BR if we want to cook anything).

It is a fair bit less usable space for non-sleeping though. The surfaces for eating are slightly awkward (a long table at the entrance and a very small table near the couch). They are clearly designed for people who don't intend to eat a lot of their meals in the villa. Also, the angle to watch the TV from the couch isn't ideal.

Thanks for your impressions - I’ll be staying in a resort studio for a couple of nights this winter before moving over to a 1 br. & am looking forward to it. I’ve not yet stayed in a deluxe studio, we love the 1 br.s too much. As long as Narcoossees is back open by then I’ll survive w/out a kitchenette for a couple of nights😂.

Oh great, now they can put it toasters and microwave, while leaving that ugly wire just hanging there plugged in. Just saying, paying a lot of money for these rooms. At least take one hour to put the wires into the walls.

I'm hoping all the microwave haters are going to survive! lol Hopefully DVC will not both trying that route again and just cough up the funds for the kitchenettes or at least for what is are the normal studio appliances.

I was only in the model as they were still working on the new rooms but I did not notice higher ceilings. Were you on the top floor with the vaulted ceilings or did BPK actually have higher ceilings than the other buildings at GF?

I didn't compare them to the original VGF studios, I only mentioned that they feel larger to me than the Poly studios because of the higher ceilings even though the Poly studios are the largest in DVC. Overall they're quite a bit larger than the original VGF studios (~440 sq. ft. vs 374 sq. ft.), but I have no idea if the ceiling height is different.

So now DVC thinks they did something for the members. These microwaves should have been there from the beginning.

I wonder if they were worried they could have difficulty getting them which is why they never promised them,

They were in way too close to opening for DVD not to have decided prior to that to add them.
