This is a quote from Will Poole, the Senior Vice President of the Windows Client Division, talking about how the release of windows in 2005 codenamed Longhorn, will deliver on a concept called Life Immersion, which will "embrace human factors like [Microsoft has] never done before, to really understand how to make that emotional connection to [its] customers to address all of the product requirements that I talked about, making it just work, making it something that you can invite and live with every day in new and profound ways from a technological perspective both at the hardware and with the software to deliver that immersive experience."

I'd be happy if it just stopped locking up and crashing :)
I'm not sure an emotional conection is neccesary!

Me too Alex.
So does this guy mean that if we are having a bad day, our computers will know how to make us feel better? haha

Longhorn is gonna be the worst thing invented as well... it will feature the new technology to prevent copyright theft, it won't let you do anything without special codes and it records any suspicious activity and reports it back to Microsoft.

I don't see them getting that one to the market.. but thats what the government likes, they don't care about privacy anymore

just yet.........BUT when i am.......I will let microsoft know in advance....

GREAT! Just what my ex sig other needs- one more thing to get all upset about whle I am still living here

Does this mean our computers will "understand" when we get so ticked at it that we call it every bad word we can think of?!! It will know we are just having a bad day and not judge us by our actions!! :smooth:

Yup my opinion exactly...been having more and more of that lately. I am updating from ME to XP probably today, but thier problems seem to exist across the board with programs regardless of what version it is.

You know, my husband had the same thoughts about that this morning as well... aka spyware. I too would be happy if they'd just make something that didn't crash or lock up. Really does make other OS look better all the time!

I already have an "emotional" connection with Microsoft just not the warm and fuzzy kind, more like a hate/hate relationshipe :teeth:

LOL Alex.

I would just be happy if Microsoft TESTED the products before they sent them out. I love the new feature where your PC sends them an error message if it crashes. They announced they fixed several problems this way... Is it just me or wouldn't it be BETTER to fix the problem before you send it out!

lol, sooooo true!

Why would everyone get this new version of windows if it is so "big brother" like? Couldn't we just all boycott it, and then it would go nowhere? :)

I have all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings for microsoft! We live in the same city they are in, and they spend money to support our schools. They are the reason we can have small class sizes. They build new buildings at the university, they support our economy, their tax dollars build the sidewalks and beautiful landscaping of our town.

But that does sound like a stupid product.

I could buy a mac. They are really cool to look at! Who cares if you can't do anything on them :)

I'm willing to let them know now - that is why my next computer will be an Apple.

Alex, I don't know... it sounds to me like you're not getting much done with your current OS!;) ;) :p

Jeff, I knew I would "find" you here.;) ;) :p

Me as well... especially Dell pc's double especially their craptastic laptops

My business laptop is back to dell at the repair center for a third time with the motherboard burning out... I wish they could put a price on how much business I'm losing because of their great products..

17" powerbook here I come

actually there is a bit of history here. In the early days the P.C's and the macs were neck and neck. People started buying PC's for their home because that is what they had at work and they could steal the software, exactly what microsoft is crying about now. Apple took a different direction. They hit the education market hard thinking that if the kids used it at school the parents would use it for home. Apple guessed wrong and lost the war.
Apple represents less than 3.5% of all computer sales and the servers represent less than 1%. In most companies, it's windows and you have no choice.
Just ask Jeff :)

Larry... I'm not suprised, I am seeing a huge downturn in Dell's reliability and customer service, I think they just got too big
