Not sure if this is the right place, but I was wondering when they say trick or treat is it the day of Halloween or do they let the kids trick or treat during the celebration of the party any day not just Halloween?

MNSSHP details:
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a Halloween-themed special event held on select dates in Magic Kingdom theme park. Purchase of an additional event admission ticket is required to attend.

Guests of all ages are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes. Even better, you can collect delicious candy as you trick-or-treat around Magic Kingdom theme park.

In addition to many favorite Disney attractions, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is filled with special entertainment, including:

  • Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade—including Disney Characters and the stars of the Haunted Mansion attraction. The parade begins with a spook-tacular ride by the Headless Horseman.
  • Happy HalloWishes—a spectacular fireworks show where the Disney Villains go trick-or-treating in the sky.
  • Many favorite Disney Characters and Disney Villains in Halloween costumes.
  • Special lighting, music and theming effects transform areas of Magic Kingdom theme park into happy haunted hollows.
The tone of the event is, well, "Not-So-Scary," and is appropriate for children of all ages.

All of the above takes place during each of the parties.

Trick or treating is done at all of the parties, during party hours. You get a ton of candy.

My son is 12. Is everything oriented toward little ones? I would love to go with him but if he sees only little ones everywhere, he definitely will not want to go.

Also, when we went to disney last sept it was so hot and humid! I can't imagine wearing a costume in that kind of heat. Do the majority of people attending dress up? If so, does anyone have any creative ideas for a costume that won't leave us feeling like we need a shower after 10 minutes of being in the park?

I don't think it is geared toward any age, you will see people of all ages having a great time. Will your 12 year think it is for the younger crowd, I have no idea. You will see all ages in costume.

Yes, many do dress up. Can it be hot, yes, and I was amazed at how many had on elaborate costumes in the heat and that was the week before Halloween.

Not sure about September.

Even the adults do the Trick or treating - everyone is a kid at the MK. :teeth:

Well I dress up and go trick or treating with my kids. I wouldn't say it's only little ones. It's families... all ages.

And yes, it is hot and humid. You have a better chance of it being cooler the later you go in October. That's why we always go the last weekend or week right before Halloween.

Last year there was a cold front going through the day we were there so it rained on us all night of the party. :/ But... it was cool the next day. LOL

I would say most kids dress up, and I see a lot of adults dress up too.

We went in October 2009 (sometime between the 25th and 30th) and my DD's were 3 and 5. They had their little Snow White dresses on and their hair was all done up after their BBB appointment. IT WAS 42 DEGREES!! We were freezing! I had to stop at a gift shop and buy a $30 long-sleeve t-shirt because I was shivering so bad. (I bought a POTC shirt and took it home to DH and told him it was his souvenir:lmao:)

The party was fantastic! Even my BFF (who went with me in place of DH) wanted to go again. We did not dress up and we did not feel out of place in the least. I'm planning a trip in October 2014 (which is when I will turn 29 for the 11th time;)) and this time DH will be with us. I am planning on doing the party again. The parade and fireworks alone were worth it.

Thanks everyone for the info. We definitely will try to get tickets. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Those snow white dresses with BBB hair do's must have been so cute on your little ones! :cutie: I love seeing little kids dressed up for halloween.

It's been warm in October when I've been. Usually wear a Halloween tee shirt for a costume. And think the candy isn't the best -- nerds, and not too much chocolate, near the end of the night the cms give a lot more.

T-shirt is a great idea! We won't be too hot then. 90 degree weather and full on costume does not mix well. I don't know how the disney characters do it. I hope they get paid extra for that!!!

We also dressed in Disney themed Halloween t-shirts. Very cute... sold everywhere around the parks. The candy is mostly sugar based candy with a little chocolate mixed in. We brought back a small suitcase in candy and put it all out for our trick or treaters. Like others have stated... The special entertainment is totally worth the admission. :)

We have gone a couple of times, usually the week after Columbus Day. It's never been oppressively hot and humid at that time, unlike early October. We don't do costumes but appreciate all the great costumes other guests wear for the party.

We always do the trick-or-treating. The last two times there has been more chocolate (little candy bars and peanut M&Ms!), maybe because it's cooler at the time we go?

The special MNSSHP parade is one of my favorites. It's worth going at least once just for the special parade and fireworks.

We went on Halloween (yes the actual date) and would NEVER do that again. The park was mobbed! But would love to go back to the party. DD had a blast at one of the dance parties. Adults dressed in themed T's, kids in costumes. Loved seeing the characters in costumes, also.

We went the first week of October last year and unfortunately, it was raining for the majority of the night, so heat wasn't really an issues. Even though it was raining, we put on ponchos over our costumes and made the most of it. In fact, getting wet on splash mountain at night (which could be dreadful on a cold night) didn't really bother us.

There is a ton of candy, and like others said, you got more the later you go through the treat stops. The fireworks show is amazing and I heard the parade is great (we missed it though). I don't think your 12 year old will feel its too "baby-like" and yet any younger kids won't be scared. Have fun!

We are planning our trip for Oct of 2014 and we will be there for Halloween. but we were thinking of doing the party one night and go someplace else for the day of Halloween. I was just wondering if they trick or treated other nights besides Halloween I guess they do that during the party. Thank you for all the input it really helps

At the Magic Kingdom, it's just during MNSSHP.

DW, DS and I go every year for the last three years. One year my son and I went as football players with jerseys and he wore his game pants.

We hang by the pool the day we go and head over about 4:00-5:00. They put a wrist band on you to indicate you have paid and then you go ahead and have fun.

They have a special MNSSHP parade started by the headless horseman and usually my DW watches the parade while DS and I go on rides with virtually no wait. Two years ago we rode Splash mountain 4 or 6 times several times we didn't even have to get off. Another time we rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad about 4 - 6 times without getting off.

After 7:00 the candy stations are in place and you can start collecting candy.

After about 11:30, some of the cast members start filling your bags with candy. Not guaranteed to happen but happened to us all three years.

The biggest plus is for the extra money you usually have fewer people in the park except for actual halloween.

The crowd is pretty broad in regards to age from little ones to teenagers.

Again we have always had fun and felt it was worth it.
