Mickey's Very Merry Xmas party question

DH and I have attended the event 3 times prior to having kids-the last time being Dec. 1999. At that time, no one was ever admitted in until exactly 7pm-the cast members would do their best to entertain all the guests with sing alongs, etc.. until 7pm hit-but now I'm hearing that most times the gates open much earlier and some people get to stay in the park w/ a special handstamp until the MVMCP starts-is this true? We'll be going with our 2 dd's ages 2 and 4. I'd hate to get there at 6 and have to keep them calm for an hour if they don't open the gates early, but then I'd hate to miss out on an hour of being there if we show up at 7.... also trying to make dinner plans around all of it....

Yes, you can get into the park earlier than 7 p.m. We have done MNSSHP and MVMCP and have gotten in early around 5 p.m. What we have done is book a PS at one of the restaurants around 5 or 5:30 p.m. and you will still be eating while the park closes at 6 p.m. You can get your wristbands from the front of the park before you go to dinner by showing them your tickets, and letting them know you have a PS for dinner. Once you are finished eating they ask all the guests to wait over in tomorrowland, where space mountain is until the park officially opens at 7 p.m. What we have done is get in line at the photo station so we are one of the first ones getting our family photo taken, since the lines for that get sooooooooooo long during the night.

I called last year to make reservations for LTT before the Christmas Party. I was told I'd have to use a day off my PHP to get in...even though I had a ticket for the Party. She told me any reservations made before the 7 pm start of the party required you to use your PHP to get in. So, we just waited until 7pm.

There have been a lot of reports of people being able to get into the park, with just their mvmcp tickets before 7 p.m. I was told last year that if I wanted, I could get into the parks early, at around 4ish, and they would give me a wristband at that time. I didn't have to since I was in the park already. Then had PS for 5:45 at LTT. It seems that the info changes depending on which CM you talk to. Can you imagine the chaos there would be with those last hangers'on trying to leave the park and thousand's of party goers trying to get in? That's why they have allowed us to enter earlier than 7 in the past. But, as with all things Disney, that could be subject to change at any time.

We are going to be in the park earlier in the day. Can we get our wrist bands while we are there (prior to our afternoon nap break) then go straight in for the party when we return without waiting with the mass of people entering?

I don't know if you can get them early, but it really isn't that bad...they wrap it around your wrist as you are coming through the turnstile.

I have heard that you can get in anytime after 4pm with just your MVMCP ticket. You will get a wrist band to ID you has being a Party Guest. Once the park closes you will have to "hang out" in Tomorrowland, until the party starts.

When we went in 2002, we got there at about 5 and got in with no trouble.
