We're going to WDW the second week in December. Would you suggest this event? What do you like about it? How are the crowds? Anyhelp deciding if we should attend this event would be a huge help. Thanks!

We will be there the weeke before you. I thought, for the cost, it wasn't really worth it. I could be wrong, though, as I have never been. Also, my kids are only 7 and 5, so, it would be another late night on top of all the other nights.

I'd love to read feedback from someone who has been....

We went this same week 8 years ago and didn't have any lines to really worry about. I'm hoping it's the same way this year. In my opinion, if you were tempted to do the Very Merry Christmas party b/c of less people to contend with for the big rides, I would say that you won't have too too much to worry about. Again, I may be wrong!

Be ready -- you're probably going to get a lot of contradictory opinions on this topic! I think a big part about deciding whether or not to go is to manage your expectations. Specifically, the crowds can get quite large for the party, so don't expect to have the parks all to yourself where you can just walk onto rides: depending on the night (and I would advise, if you go, go on a weekday, as locals tend to go on the weekends) it can be pretty packed.

That said, however, we took DD5 to her first MVMCP 2 years ago, and we wouldn't consider going at that time of year and NOT going. We all (DH, Grandmother, DD, and me) absolutely loved it! Not so much for the rides, but for the absolutely magical, holiday atmosphere. Even more so, IMO, than during the day. You've got the fantastic parade that you won't see any other time (i.e. during the day), ditto the incredible fireworks. The shows are loads of fun, the snow on Main Street is beautiful, and everything is just so festive. I think the key to enjoying yourself during one of these parties is to decide beforehand if you're going to focus on rides or shows -- it's very difficult to do both. We hit a few rides in Fantasyland right after they opened it up and before it was crowded, and then spent the rest of the night mostly doing the shows, meeting many different characters, and just slowing down and enjoying the atmosphere. We had such a good time that we bought tickets for the last night of our trip, too, and focused more on the rides that time.

Hopefully, you'll get some feedback from others who have been a little more recently, but I think it's worth every penny!

We went on 12/18/05. We were able to walk on all attractions and see all shows with no problem. My only complaint was that the shows and parades that are supposedly exclusive to MVMCP are also performed during normal park hours this last week before Christmas. Even the snow on Main St. So, if you are going at that time, do not waste your money. You can see everything during the day. But if you are going earlier in december it is worth the cost.
We did not waste a park pass the day we went to MVMCP so the cost to visit MK that day was not very expensive.

We've been twice before, but it was 7 and 4 years ago. At that time there were very light crowds, we even rode splash mountain alone in the boat! I think I would love it even if it was more crowded. it just seemed very special. we did not go on days we were in the parks already.

We (sisters and daughters) were there last year the first part of Dec. and we had a wonderful time!! It was so worth it!! I can't describe the feeling of walking down Main Street in snow!! pixiedust: Oh, my goodness... talk about magical!! My DH and I are going this year. (His very first trip to Disney) We will be there for our 24th anniv. We will start the evening with supper at Cinderella's Royal Table. I just can't wait to experience such a magical time with my sweetie!!

The crowds weren't as bad as I had been led to believe, but I'm still trying to decide if it was worth the money. The only thing "exclusive" that isn't availabl on normal nights is the freecookies and hot chocolate. If you can make it to closing the crowds thin out considerably and it's agreat opportunity to hit some favorite attractions with little wait. I think our biggest problem last year was it was unusually cold and we just weren't dressed for it.

I've always wanted to go during the Holiday season and we're going this year with our families. I have purchased tickets to the MVMCP because it's our first time going and I want to be sure to get everything in that has to do with the holiday and then next time we can make our own minds up about what we want to do again or not. I've met many people who say the parade is a definate and then some who say don't bother. Honestly it might be something you have to decide yourself. How much is the extra cost when you're at Disney????

We went 4 years ago and are going again this year. When we went the first time we had my 3yo niece with us and my sister and my niece went crazy for the parade. It was the probably one of the few things she did get excited about during our week at disney. She just jumped up and down and sang jingle bells over and over again! I personally love being at MK at night with the lights twinkling - something makes it seem so much more magical! We did ride a couple of rides and I think (b/c my sister and I went off on our own and left my husband with my niece) that the kiddie rides are just as crowded as they are during the day b/c most families with young children won't stay at the party long so they want to get those rides in early. At least that is what we're doing this year with our son but I won't wait in any line that is too long so we can see the other special party offerings! I definitely think the party is worth it if you don't use a park admission that day - make in an off day to go shopping or relax - and then enter the park at 4p on your party ticket.

We (my DBF and myself) attended MVMCP in 2004 and plan on attending again this year on Nov 30th. Last time we went during the week on a Thursday, and had NO problem with crowds. Main Street is crowded, but it seemed like once you made it through that, there was virtually no one around (relatively speaking of course). I think that the weekends are crowded with locals, but we literally rode Splash Mountain 4 times in a row, without having to get out of the log each time. We love the parks at night, so maybe that's why we loved it so much. We rode almost everything that was open (multiple times sometimes), and this alone was worth the money for us. This year we plan on seeing more of the "holiday festivities" offered during the party, but even just riding the rides that night and watching the fireworks put us in the holiday spirit. pixiedust:

all i can say is GO GO GO GO GO GO you will love it. seeing it snow on main street. its a blast. the christmas parade is one of a kind

We're going the first week in December and I can't wait!! :Pinkbounc

This will be our first time (myself, adult DD, her DH, and my then to be 8 yr. old granddaughter).. We're not interested in the rides - just the atmosphere and the idea of doing something we have never done before..

Maybe if we're impressed, we'll take a quick jaunt down next year to try out MNSSHP.. ;)

We went during our Honeymoon in December of 2004 and loved MVMCP. There are tons of character meet and greets around the parks and we saw a lot of Characters that we don't normally see on our trips, including the Princesses with their Princes. Crowds were managable, the parade was great and the cookies and cocoa were very yummy. It was just a very magical experience and everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We are going the same week you are with MVMCP on th 12th. It's our first time so I can't tell you if it's worth it or not but I'm nutso over Christmas and Disney so it can't be all bad.

Actually, as another poster mentioned, the parade and shows for MVMCP are exclusive until the week before Christmas. If you're going earlier in the month, you won't be able to see the special Christmas parade, fireworks, and some of the shows -- plus the cookies and hot chocolate -- unless you go to MVMCP.

We will be attending MVMCp 11/30. I have an adr for 5:30pm. I am considering cancelling it because of it interferring with all the other shows and activities. Any advice on this subject?

Same night as me! The only thing I'm worried about is that they are letting the day guests stay until 7pm..they have fireworks scheduled for 6pm! Previous years they herded all day guests out at 6pm..it's creating quite a stir. Same with the Halloween party. I've already emailed a complaint. There are hints that they might change it back..hopefully!

Anyway, your dinner reservations should be okay. Nothing officially starts until the first Mickey Christmas show in Tomorrowland at I believe 6:45. Where is your reservation?

We have a 5:20 adr for one of the December parties. The party doesn't officially start until 7 pm so I'm thinking we will be finishing up our dinner just about the time the party starts. Hopefully someone who has done this will offer how it worked for them.

I don't know how to double quote  so for the OP - I agree that this party is something you need to experience for yourself and decide. MVMCP comes highly recommended from some and while I thought the party was okay, I happen to much prefer MNSSHP. I think that the Boo to You Parade and Hallo-wishes alone are worth the price of the ticket. I would pass on the MVMCP this year if it wasn't that I was meeting friends there. But the parade is very cute, Wishes is very nice and it's easy to get on rides. Others love it very much and I would hate to say don't go when the party has the potential to be one of your favorite things.

A little after eight at a Thursday night MVMCP in early December, I went to Space Mountain. I asked the CMs if I could wait until someone else arrived so I wouldn't be riding alone!! Never had that happen before!

We wii be doing the party this year again on Dec. 11. We have been going to the party every year for several years now and always have a great time. It has just been my wife and myself for several years now and we always enjoy the party. :)
