Mickey's So Long Summer Cruise 2.0

Game changer?

There's a thread "confirming" the Magic will go out of NYC August 2012 for 8 nights to WDW, CC and Bahamas. I would do that over the Fantasy! Or the repo from PC to NYC. When is DCL going to dump Nassau??? Yeah, I know they can't, but the place is a pit!

Hawaii, Texas, Seattle for Mojo!

What's everyone thinking?

I think these new itineraries will hurt the Dream and the Fantasy in 2012 based on their inflated prices!

The price for NYC is high, but we'll save on air. Gosh, I will actually enjoy taking Amtrak to NYC for one trip! LOL

I am going to see whether or not I enjoy the Dream class ships. If they are too big and crowded, we will change to the 8 day cruises.:thumbsup2

I love sea days and it looks like the last cruise is on the same date as the Fantasy cruise:)

I am excited for NYC, but wasn't thrilled about the itinerary...can't wait to see the prices-- was hoping that when I am on the dream that I may book the magic out of NYC... I hope they offer a nice variety....

You can't wait that long to book, the price will be crazy high. Let me get on my soapbox, DCL Golden Rule: Book Early=Saving $$$

I know i said I would stop reading the main thread but.......
I do kinda like the 2 day cruise to nowhere idea...could be a great girls getaway!!

wondering-- would we get a discount for being NY residents?

We're planning to book Aug 25, 2012, 8 night the minute it opens. I'm hoping for a gold cc discount and NY resident.

Great minds think alike. We're booking the 8 night, same as the Fantasy. Since the jury us still out on the Dream, I agree, we'll wait and see. But, DCL will have $$$ from us for 3 cruises!!:scared1:

FP for the Dream is due May 3rd for us!!!

My response to the Dream boarding process fiasco is that I will register online and I will come early as I always have and let the chips fall where they may:thumbsup2

What are your plans:confused3

I think I would stick with the Magic....I am sure the Dream will be nice, but for me, the less crowded the better...... this whole booking now thing, though is quite scary- especially since I haven't submitted my final payment yet:scared1:

Please share rates with us when you get them....I will need the veranda since it is the Magic....

this is exactly what I will also do....we like to get to the port early!!
hope all the bugs will be worked out by August!

So I know I've been absent on here, but is this talk of abandoning me for the 2012 cruise????? I guess I better check out the cruise out of NY. Will talk to Tim about it and see what he says.

Sorry I've been quiet. Finished the school auction, co-chaired it so much more work. Looking at netting at least $100,000 for the school! But now it is tax season so Tim is super busy. Not seeing much of him lately.

We are taking a HAL cruise in June, out of Boston, similar to DCL 2012 New England cruise except we get off in Montreal. If we had known about the DCL one I would have booked that one. Oh well. How about coming out to Seattle all? No airfare for me then :rolleyes1

Quick post before bed. I booked the new Magic today:

2 adults, 1 child
8/17/2012
8 nights Bahamas
cat 7A
no insurance
no transfers
$5.564.68
20% deposit
$1064.00

Sticker shock!!! I thought it would be $600 a night, not $695!!!

Hey Mojo!! Miss ya!

More tomorrow from New York City, the future home of the Disney Magic!M

Hello Everyone,

I don't want to cynical or anything like that but... I am thinking maybe DCL had these NY trips in the plans for some time now so that they could meet their promise to PC to fulfill their annual quota of dockings:confused3

I am having a hard time convincing my family that a 8 day trip is better than sailing a new ship plus better ports for 2012. We usually do connecting verandas which under the new categories would be 5B and based on Michele's quote, it would still be cheaper to keep the Fantasy cruise and airfare than to book NY.

What is everyone else thing???

Joe you are right my friend, I'm sure DCL has been planning NYC for a while. I was also thinking they'll stick with NYC as a port for a couple of years... I was thinking that until I see the 8 night cruises aren't selling as well as the Canada trips. Why, probably because the price is insane!!!

But, after the the fuzzy math, seems we'll come out "ahead" doing the Magic in 2012 out of NYC instead of the Fantasy out of PC. The cost of flying to FL, pre/post hotel, meals, park tickets, transfers to the ship all makes the NYC price tag seem like a "deal". Imagine that, using the word deal and DCL in the same sentence.

But, and there's a big but, I'm not sold on either cruise. Sailing from NYC, awesome! Going to WDW, awesome! A 13 year old ship, kill me. A small 13 year old ship, kill me. Those are the reasons we went with Carnival last year, Mama wanted a shiny new boat.

After the Dream this August, I know my family will decided which over priced cruise to keep.

The Magic is sailing out of the Manhattan Terminal: 12th Ave & W 55th St, New York, NY 10019

Parking is $30 a day

I was shocked when I saw some of the prices- especially for the 2 day cruises. I was thinking the same as Michele- that cruising out of NY is cheaper when you factor in hotel, pre/post cruise plans...but frankly, the itinerary didn't excite me- wish they could switch it up a bit.

Michele- what was the discount for being NY resident?

If they continue to sail out of NY and add a Bermuda itinerary I just might be interested:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if passports will be processed if the govt. shuts down:confused3

I feel for those who are waiting for their passports to take cruises in the near future. What if they have given all of their paperwork to the goverment, what do they do:confused3
