Ok time for a first-timer's questions. These may have already been asked answered and leave it to me to wait till 20-something days to go to ask these...lol

From reading the various trip reports it seems to take some time to do dinner at night. Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to keep an almost 2 year old occupied? At most restaurants we can get his food to come out early so he can be eating while we are waiting and while we are eating, do they do that on the ship?

We requested the early dinner seating but I don't know what time that is. Also is there somewhere online or in your trip papers you can find out your dinner rotation??

Do you beleive he did this to me????? I just finally got online and read this, almost 6 hours after he posted!!!!! We had to go do the walk through at our daughters new place, then we went to dinner, and finally got home but a lovely storm is messing with my internet.... so YES!!!! We got our docs!!!

YEAH!!!!!!! It's getting soooo close!!

For anyone that's been on a cruise before....

What is the one thing that you have forgetton in your day bag that you wished you would have remembered. I am trying to write out some packing lists and I know that you can't get into your room right away on the ship and they tell you to take a bag with extra clothes and your bathing suit....but is there anything that you wouldn't have thought of to take that later you thought wouldn't have been good to have????

So I figured I would post pics of DS and I. DM HATES her picture taken so finding a picture to put up of her is hard...lol. But here we are

Come and listen to a story bout a girl named Patty
A Disney fanatic, drove her husband batty
Then one day she was watching a tv show
And through the speakers the Wonder did blow

It's horn that is, Mickey, Minnie

Well the first thing you know ole Pattys on the net
Husband Dale says you wouldn't i bet
Now our charge cards are lit like a Christmas tree
But, hey, we are on our way to Disney

Cruise that is, Castaway Cay, Nassau

The Disney Fanatics!

Very good, Dale. Do like Tim Hawkins?

You're server will assume you want your son's food brought first, but if you want to cover your bases, tell them. It's not likely they'll roll their eyes and say "Duh". Outside of the usual strategies you probably use when you go out to dinner, I don't know what to suggest. We've had servers, and we've watched other servers, who took the initiative to be amusing to the kids at the table, but there's no guarantee of course. I don't see him lasting the whole meal content in his seat. You'll probably wind up taking him out of the dining room for a little walk or for wave watching.

Early dinner was 6pm when cruised last time. You won't know your dinner rotation until you check in.

Both of these items should get a good response on the main cruise board.

Thank you sooo much for your insight, it's great to be able to get some advice from people who have been through this before.

Christina, you and your son are just to adorable! I would suggest hitting the dollar store and getting some coloring books, little things to play with at the table and not let him see those things until your at the table so you have the whole "new" thing on your side. I'd also take out one at a time. My Chaser racer is 4 1/2 and is still a challenge to sit any where for a long period of time so I totally undersand having to be inventive at the dinner table.
Also, don't forget sunscreen in your day bag along w/ any medications someone might need. :)
My mom and her boyfriend got their cruise documents at their house and my boys and I got our documents at our house so I am sure your mom will get hers seperately at her home :)

Yep, DM's documents came the next day! Sooooo exciting. I can't believe in 3 weeks from today we will be leaving PA!!! and on our way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :cloud9: :woohoo:

Just FYI they have crayons at the table so you don't have to bring them. My boys are not into coloring so that really didn't help much for me. Mine all seem to need the rest room at least once through out dinner. I think they use that to get a little break. It can be a long time for little ones. You might want to consider flounders for a night or two so you can have a nice relaxing dinner sans kid. Good luck!

Monica, Tim Hawkins is hilarious and clean!:rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: When i have more time, say year 2050, i will check out his web site. Actually i did look into it a little. Thanks for the suggestion. Concerning the web cam from yesterday, i refuse to watch the web cam on a Thursday. Thats kind of pessimistic. You know, the glass is half empty, or i'm half insane. It's a total negative because it means sombodies trip is over. No, the day to watch is Sunday, because thats like a new beginning. The glass is full, life is begining, i'm totally sane. The frowns will turn to smiles, the grey hair will turn back to the origional color, we all will start to act younger (more so then usual) LIFE IS GRAND! Besides, i don't have time to watch on a Thursday.

HI,

To keep the kiddies busy at dinner and to try and have a relaxing meal on this trip........I went to the Dollar store........I bought stamp kits, playdough, stickers, foam "beads" with string, and pads of papers to keep all their creations.......I plan on giving out something new each meal to keep them occupied! Just not sure how to lug all this stuff.......I seriously need an extra suitcase........but, it will be totally worth it if it keeps them busy and I can enjoy eating!! :thumbsup2

The kids on our trip include one 10yo, three 4yos, two 2yo's, and one infant!

I'm hoping we get seated at a table w/ at least one child close to chase's age so that "new friends" will keep him occupied. Chase is a real social butterfly!

Well, as of right now we are smack dab in the cone for the now tropical storm but soon to be hurricane. :scared1: Time to get prepared!

I hope my kids aren't going to miss the second day of school for this. That day will come out of their Thanksgiving break. Also to give me one day and then send them home the next is just cruel.

When my family cruises as a whole we get our own table which is nice. I hope we get some decent dinner mates this time. In my 9 sailings I have had some ok, one bad( we didn't go to dinning room after the first night bad), a one fantastic (we looked forward to dinner everynight because we had so much fun). It can really be a toss up.

Did ya'll see that race last night with Phelps? :yay: I thought he wasn't going to make it. That was as good as the relay last week. I think I might try to get over to London in 2012. Hey the dollar is on it's way back so that might not be so bad by then.

Enjoy your weekend!! If I lose power because of this darn Fay then you may not hear from me for a while. I live in the boonies. In 2004(Charley, Frances and Jeanne) this area had no power for 10 days.:sad2:

Mary, it is you and me . We might just get side swiped on the west coast. Anything could happen but right now my area is in the middle of the direct hit part of the cone (I'm between Ft Myers and Sarasota). At least it isn't forcast to be more than a cat 1 or 2....that is just a summer zepher around here :rotfl: . I live in a pretty rual area also(we don't even have cable in these parts) so we are always without power for at least a good 3 days if not longer. We have enough water ( I have gotten in the habit of buying a gallon every shopping trip during hurricane season) we just don't have any food right now. I need to do the loaf of bread canned good run to the store.
I did not see Phelps race last night but I read about it and caught the news reports. That was pretty intense! He is an amazing athlete. I will tell you one thing that is really bothering me and that is the 41 year old swimmer they keep calling "old lady". 41 is NOT old! If people consider the 40's old then they are planning on being old for more than 3/4 of their life!I am really enjoying watching the olympics. All of these althletes are such a great role model for kids! They inspire my kids to get more active and try harder and you just can't beat that!
I think we are at 22 days now? I keep teasing Chris and it is SO much fun. hehe I keep telling him (blank) number of days until I reveal his b-day present. It is the little things like this that make me so happy. :teeth:

Dawn  you are the one who has a right to be concerned about the storm. I am just an inland whiner ;) This will be our first storm since we built this house. We have a well so no power = no water=no toilet flushing=yeah! NOT. I don't have to tell you I'm sure. I know we should have a generator but, we don't. We have no cable either so as soon as it rains hard there goes the tv. I'm just not looking forward to the inconvienence of it all. I don't have to worry about damage. Where we lived back in 2004 we never lost power or tv. We had water coming in under our baseboards but, we had tv and ac! :thumbsup2

Oh well. At least I didn't stock the freezer in garage yet. I think I will wait until the end of Sept to do that just in case.

I hope it moves a bit more west.(no offense LA and TX)

Mary, I'm on a well also so I totally understand what your saying! I can get past the flushing toliet (garbage bags work well in a pinch) but the no shower thing.....icky!:scared1: Thank goodness I still have baby wipes!

Well, I just printed out a few little "buisness cards" for the boys. I put their name and email address on them so they can give them to any friends they may meet on the cruise. :thumbsup2

You know, I have learning about olympic events I didn't even know existed as sports.....like white water kyaking and trampoline
