Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, what if it rains?

We were In a long line at city hall starting at 8pm. Not sure if the timing had anything to do with it :/
We got in line around 9. They had people coming through the line with clipboards so we only waited about 20 minutes. I asked several times about a refund or partial refund and was told absolutely no. I also grumbled about the one year ticket expiration and was told sorry but that's the best they could do. I didn't argue.

As for the one day mk tickets we were given a little piece of paper and told to present it along with our party tickets or magic band at the gate when we wanted to use it. I was sort of skeptical but we probably can't use it anyway so no big deal lol. Not sure how exactly they keep track of those free tickets.

We are going to MNSSHP tonight, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 and there is a 90% chance of rain. :( Has anyone experienced a Disney special event when it was raining? Do they cancel the parade? The stage shows? I would guess the CM must still stand out in the rain and pass out candy. Is there a possibility that Disney would give us tickets to another day?

:thanks: :surfweb:
you just sort of power through and make the best of it. usually the rain doesn't last that long ... we've been a few times when it rained and then there was October 4, 2012 when it RAINED. and RAINED. and then it stormed like crazy. We were offered a choice of refund or tickets to another party. Since it was our last night, we took the refund.

We were in the really bad party 4 years ago when it was terrible rain and lightning. It was very dangerous. We did get our tickets refunded since we were leaving the next day. Our friends stayed and said the candy came out about 10, and the fireworks went off really late (we were at BLT so could see those) but pretty much none of the rides were running, no parades, outside characters, or shows. I don't think they were able to get the second parade off either but I may be wrong. It was a nightmare waiting at guest relations for the refund....but typically they don't do refunds/exchanges. Weather was very extreme that night, we were told it was because of the severe lightning that lasted for a few hours and not the rain that they decided to refund.
October 4, 2012. We were there!

literally (and I mean literally) NO ONE was outside for at least an hour that night. We holed up in Cosmic Ray's with quite a few from the Tomorrowland cast. I never thought it was going to stop raining that night. LOL

We bought our MNSSHP tickets when they went on sale for our visit in 13. It rained and the show was cancelled and the parade was delayed, we gave up and took the kids for candy. We bought them in advance for MVMCP last year and it rained. The parade was delayed while we waited for two hours and just as we were going to leave, a condensed version of the parade started. All the princesses were on one float and Santa Claus had an umbrella! We still had fun at both, but bummed over missing the full entertainment, especially after the cost.

From now on I'll take my chances and buy a ticket when I'm there, after I see the weather report.

Check with your resort concierge if staying on property. I know on our terrible night a few years ago, many people were able to get it worked out at the resort the next day.
Thanks for your post, Kelly! Took your advice, and the following morning we were able to receive a refund at our resort with minimal wait and friendly CMs.

We were there late last October on a rainy party night. It was more drizzly and yucky than torrential downpour, thankfully. Everything was pretty much business as usual, although they were doing an abbreviated version of the show for safety reasons. We waited around and were able to score front row spots for the last performance while the parade was doing it's second run. The rain had let up and the two CMs managing the crowd eventually announced that they were able to do the full show. I would say just bring your umbrella and try to deal as best you can. Unless it's terrible you'll still get to do most everything. Haunted Mansion has a nice covered cue. :)

For those who got rained out on Tuesday if you didn't exchange for another party ticket. You have a one day one park ticket. Things to keep in mind:
The 2 weeks of Christmas/New Years and Easter are blocked out
You cannot make fpp in advance, you can only make them the day you visit
Your ticket will show on MDE as event ticket

I was actually there Tuesday night and decided to power through the torrential downpours. I was rewarded with a great view for the parade, hocus pocus show, and hallowishes. I missed out on a few characters, but it was still a fun, adventurous night. :flower:

When we went 2 years ago, they cancelled the parade and fireworks... it stunk. It wasn't raining hard, but it was more than a sprinkle...

have you checked your MDE to see if it still shows you have event tickets?

We were there in 2009 and it rained off and on all night. The Headless Horseman didn't run for the first parade, but did for the second and the stage show was closed due to safety of the performers. It was pretty cool though, since it was canceled the villains came out for impromptu M&Gs.

Thanks. There is nothing showing on the tickets section of my MDE page.

Sounds like if you're not local, you should really wait to buy tickets if you hate bad weather..."select" party dates ticket or 1 day MK tickets good for 1 year may not help you...and that's even if that's offered next time...

But people plan trips around the parties. Why would you wait when it could end up sold out. The odds are small, but it could happen. We're going in 2017, and if tickets were on sale already, I would have purchased already. I would say the opposite of you - only locals should wait to buy tickets, since they have the leisure of going almost any date due to proximity.

prior to the party did you link you event ticket to MDE? If you did it should show it there.
There's a number to call 407 824 2222
It linked automatically when I bought the tickets. They were showing before the trip, yes. Thanks for your help.

True, many people do that, but strategically, it's a high risk way to plan. For many people, WDW is too big an occasion to plan it around an event party. The risk of an early sell-out isn't that high until mid to late October party dates.

But I just don't see how it makes sense to wait if you're going to WDW for the party. We are going next year, 4 park days, one Party night, 5 days total. We're flying in after school/work on a Tuesday, and flying out first thing Monday morning, with not a moment to spare so that DD only misses 2 days of school. We are fairly certain that the party will be on either Thursday or Friday while we're there, and will plan for such. I will make duplicate ADRs for those two days so that I can drop one day once we know for sure when the party is. The day the tickets go on sale, I will be purchasing them. If the party gets canceled or rained out, so be it, but we're planning our entire trip based on wanting to go to MNSSHP, and I'm positive we're not the only ones that do.

If you're going to the party rain or shine then buying in advance, as you're planning to do, is fine. Personally, I wish we had waited until the day of to buy tickets because we'd have passed.

We went to Sunday night's party and had a great time. Tuesday was supposed to be the icing on the cake and a fabulous finale to our trip. It wasn't. It was tiring, uncomfortable, and a waste of our time. We tried to power through but so many things were closed, and we had bad luck with a couple rides shutting down temporarily as we got in line, not related to weather. Candy lines were long and CMs were being stingy with the candy. Sunday night we got whole handfuls even early in the evening. Tuesday night they were giving two pieces at each stop. After four or five candy stops we quit. It wasn't worth waiting in the rain and our candy was getting soaked anyway. I ended up having to throw out most of what little we did get because it was wet. If we didn't already have tickets we'd probably have opted for a movie at Disney Springs instead. The only thing that keeps me from feeling it was a total loss was that we did have a good time from 4-6:15. Still, it was an expensive two hours.
