Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, what if it rains?

It's surprising that Halloween night is still available at this late date. But at $105 maybe not.

Here now, it's been pouring rain with lightning for the past hour and a half or so but it just let up some. There are puddles everywhere, even inside space mt lol.

Yuck! I would leave - (and that would help the rest of you all out because it would be less crowded!)

People on FB are reporting that they've been given a refund for tonights party. I feel bad it rained so much, but that's mother nature. We were so nervous about our party last week on 9/8, but luckily it ended up being a beautiful night.

We are leaving now. We were told no refunds. I even offered to take a 50% refund. We were offered mnsshp tickets for select nights, or one day mk tickets good for one year, neither of which we can use.

Sounds like if you're not local, you should really wait to buy tickets if you hate bad weather..."select" party dates ticket or 1 day MK tickets good for 1 year may not help you...and that's even if that's offered next time...

Agreed.
We don't mind rain, but with so many rides closed, some characters not out, no parade or stage shows, it just isn't worth the ticket price IMO. Candy lines were long and they were only giving about two pieces.

Going to this Sunday's party. My question is if this bad weather continues, is the only way to get some kind of compensation is to wait outside in the rain at what I am sure would be a very crowded city hall/guest services. Are you able to leave the party and address the issue in some other way? If so if, how do you go about this?

Thanks advance for the help!

On twitter last 10 minutes ......... hearsay ??? but ...........

"Reports of cash refunds for people that refuse to accept gift card refunds."

"I heard people were offered tickets to next week's #mnsshp or a magic kingdom day if they won't be around

"So much rain at #MNSSHP tonight. Huge line at City Hall - I guess people are complaining"

From a blogger "Everything has been canceled at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party tonight. Disney handled it like pros so we are coming back in 2 weeks!"

I was there tonight. Due to weather there weren't really any festivity specific things to due. They canceled shows and parade and the lines for candy were too long and in the rain to be worth the effort. The line at city hall was long and would probably have been at least a three to four hour wait. I decided to leave at 8:30 and cut my losses. A cast member told me they were giving out tickets for a later date but they were not for this Friday and they only had two dates. Maybe good for a local but not for someone on vacation. One of the options was for a day ticket that would expire in a year. This was also not good if you normally book a package that would require you purchase tickets such as free dining.

We went to the party two years ago in September. First parade went as scheduled...and we chose to spend that time doing rides since our kids were older and we knew could hang later. We did see the fireworks...which were cool. We lined up for the later parade...and after many delays they finally cancelled it due to impending weather. About 20 minutes later it downpoured. My kids to this day are still upset about missing that parade and we are sad they couldn't see it either. DH and I had prior trips to WDW during MNSSHP and we had seen the parade before.

Already hoping to plan a trip for next year's Halloween Party with the kids again and this time we will catch the FIRST parade so they can be sure to see it!

Check with your resort concierge if staying on property. I know on our terrible night a few years ago, many people were able to get it worked out at the resort the next day.

thanks for answering my question! Do you know if there were black out dates for the MK ticket? If not, I guess that's not too terrible.

@remyrat

There usually are not block out dates. I got one years ago, no block outs. You just can't upgrade them or use for anything else.

A couple years ago I got for Unleash the Villains disaster. I was offered my money back or any park ticket. I took MK because the value of the ticket was way more than I spent for the party ticket. We eventually used them all for DH who joined us on trips for a couple days only.

My suggestion is that if you see a huge line at City Hall, get in it! Most likely it means they are giving some sort of compensation (like a ticket to another party night). Expect a non-cash comp. So, if you can't use a free ticket because it's your last day and you won't be back, then it's probably not worth waiting in line.

The MNSSHP of September 14th, 2007 saw a tremendous amount of rain accompanied by thunder and lightening. Outdoor (and some indoor) rides closed. Parades were canceled or delayed. Fireworks were rendered invisible by the low clouds. Our family dawned ponchos and marched ahead. For us it added to the adventure and is something we reflect on as a good memory today. Much of whether poor weather will be a negative experience or not depends on the attitude of the person.

In compensation, we did receive a one-day Magic Kingdom pass that expired in one year (9/14/2008). Maybe this is the same night that KCMiller is referencing. Hard to believe it's been 9 years ago.

Yup, that was the one! We actually had a great time, even with the rain. And we didn't go to Guest Services to complain or request a refund - as we were heading down Main Street to exit, we were approached by a cast member and given the passes, as I recall.

Are they offering exchanging the sept 13th rain for this Friday, sept 16th 2016 MNSSHP?
They only offered two dates to us, Sept 20 & 23 I think, or right around there. I knew we couldn't come back so I didn't pay a lot of attention to that part, sorry.

They offered tickets to the 20th or 23rd. We were offered 1 day ph non expiring but no confirmation of this just hoping it goes through. We ended up getting a cash refund Hoping to buy tickets for Friday

Wow you sure got better offers than I did.
