Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Central!

BCVNovember...I'd definitely do Sun 10/26.Sundays are usually less crowded.I wouldn't try 10/30 and for sure NOT 10/31 with little ones.Halloween night is usually maxed out! Not only tourist do MNSHHP but so do locals.

kilee...how about 101 dalmations? You could take white shorts/pants and t-shirts and go to town with spots! Ears could be made out of felt or craft foam on ball caps (esp for the guys) or maybe headbands for the ladies.Or the Mickey Mouse Club.Red pants, mouse ears,t-shirts with each ones name on it.Let me think a bit I might come up with some more! :)

skippyNC...yes the party goes on rain or moon light!
Yes you can give them away or sell the tickets.I did this one year when two people that had planned to go with us didn't.I was in WDW and started talking to a mother and her older daughter about MNSSHP and ended up selling them my 2 extras to them!

I'm getting SO EXCITED about the party this year....how long is it until Oct?!?!? It's still awhile....Booooooooooo

Although DW and I are empty-nesters, we do love Halloween and want to have some costuming. But there are practical matters - rides, temp, etc. - so we're thinking about some kind of T-shirt; they could be worn over any coats, sweatshirts and so on. Maybe two orange ones with iron-on pumpkin eyes, nose and mouth. Or black with some bones. Red with devil horns and white with a halo. Simple, yet in the spirit.

Your group would make a great pumpkin patch!

Good luck,
Erick

Thank you for the ideas!!! Our hardest time is convincing my parents to dress up. They think they're too old (I say nonesense!!!!)

We have not yet picked the grown-up costumes but the girls 8 & 3 will be Jasmine and Cinderella repectivly. NO cute shoes only sneakers! We still need to pick our night but we will be there the 10th to 17th. Midweek is suppose to be less crowded.

So excited, I can't stop jumping!!! We are going to DW with friends and they are coming over this week to help figure out which PS we need.

My only weather experience is with MVMCP, but I would assume that MNSSHP is handled the same way. When we went to MVMCP last year is was raining - hard! We still went, hoping that it would stop raining eventually. We hung out until the first parade, and about 5 minutes before they announced that the parade had been cancelled due to the weather (seriously, it was pouring buckets and buckets). That's when we decided to cut our losses and go back to the room to get warm and dry off.

On the way out, we noticed a crowd at City Hall and decided to swing by. Because of the weather, CMs were offering to let people trade that night's MVMCP tickets for the next night. Unfortunately, that was the last night of our trip, so that didn't work for us. So, the CM gave us a card with an address on it. We were told to write to the address, mention the night we attended, and include our wrist bands and tickets with the letter. I did this as soon as we got home, and about 6 weeks later I got a check in the mail for the full amount of our tickets!

From what I understand, the exchange or refund is only available if the weather is so bad that events are called off and rides are closed. In these situations, the refunds are also only available to those who show up (have to get a wristband), but then leave early due to the weather. If you just don't show up at all you wouldn't be able to get a refund.

Sorry this was so long, but I wanted to let you all know that there are situations where the non-refundable tickets can be refundable!

How crowded do you think the first party will be on Oct 3? I'm toying with the idea of an Oct 1 to 5 trip, Oct 3 would be the only night we could go. Since it's 4 weeks before Halloween, do you think locals would be less likely to attend?

:earsboy:cherylcat WELCOME to the DIS!!!:earsboy:

lovespugs...Thanks for this info. It's nice to know Disney does take excecption now and then! :)

DebbieB...I think this is a terrific week to go! I don't think you'll have a problem with crowds even on a Friday night.

I would appreciate some ideas for costuming me, DH and DD (she'll be 9) for the MNSSHP. My DD thought of Dweedle Dee and Dweedle Dum with Alice (isn't she sweet?). My DH is not a costume guy, so . . .

I booked my ressies on Friday. I was told that the tickets did include a family picture. The CRO went on to describe in great detail how the picture is a great souvenier and would be mailed directly to our home address. This is our first time at MNSSHP.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for imagination deprived adults who want to dress up for the first time in 20 or so years. We want something lightweight and simple to pack.

I love these posts about costumes for adults. We are also going to be at WDW during MNSSHP but we haven't decided if we are going or not. My DH is a hoot - he loves to dress up with the kids every year.

I always dress up as the same thing... the mom who hands out candy :p

The only costume I could imagine myself in would be a t-shirt with a Halloween theme. I have to believe that lots of adults do this - I hope.

We're planning on attending 10/31. Any idea how much time we'll have to purchase tickets before they sell out?

Also - is FP operating during this event?

I'm trying to get some idea as to what to expect since we will not be in the park prior to the party and will be attempting to enjoy the attractions as well as the festivities.

any information would be greatly appreciated.

Just remember if you are going to do attractions as well as the festivites, be sure to wear clothes that are easy to get in and out of ride in...nothing too big or difficult to sit in. Also, the Fairytale package is still going on during that time. I can't answer the other questions, but hopefully this helps out a little!:jester:

While our first MNSSHP this October, we have done the Christmas Party. Fast Pass was not operating; but you sure didn't need it.

I would guess it's the same situation.

We are going 10/31. I bought our tickets about a month ago. Then a couple days later I called and ordered my parents tickets. Both times the CM on the phone said that they go really fast and Halloween night is always the first to sell out. Actually when I called the 2nd time, the CM was alittle skeptical at first about still having any available. I guess if you really know that you want to go on 10/31 you may want to look into buying those tickets soon.

crusader...I'd get my tickets as soon as possible.Halloween night is generally a sell out.Fast Pass isn't available during MNSSHP but there's really no need for it.I really don't think a wait should be more than 25 minutes and that will be for rides in Fantasyland at the beginning of the evening. In the past it always tended to clear out after the the first parade and the fireworks.

CB Disney Mom...I've given several ideas in previous post but just thought of this one.Baseball players.Your favorite team's jersey/t-shirt and a ball cap, shorts or sweats and sneakers.A pirate is easy and light weight too.Black shorts or capris, striped shirt, bandana,an eye patch,a hoop earring and there ya go....arrrrrrrrrrgh matey!

Here's what I had in a previous post about costumes.

Costume tip...make sure your child's costume is COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in.You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.
I also suggest something in a light weight fabric. Those of us that are accustom to Halloweens up North are use to Trick or Treating in something warm.I grew up in Indiana and it was always cold and/or raining when I was a Trick or Treater! The costumes that are sold through the Disney catalog, like Tigger or Pooh, the jump suit FUR type ones, those are really TOO HEAVY for a Halloween in Florida! The most we've ever needed at MNSSHP is a light jacket or sweatshirt.I make my boys costumes.Let's see the costumes I can remember... Erich has been a Mickey,a pirate ,a t-rex,a turtle,a triceratops,an Ewok.Jonathan and Erich were Teenage Ninja Turtles in '01 and Pokemon in '02.I make the costumes from shorts and t-shirts.Then I have a sweatshirt and sweatpants that are the same color that they can wear over the shorts and under the shirt if the night is chilly.Joe and I have worn light jackets.

If your little girl is going to be a Princess or something quite lovely... I know she looks adorable in those glass slippers but bring sneakers or some other comfortable shoe for her to wear.I've seen little ones dragging around crying about their feet hurting because they're in those plastic dress up shoes which are killing them!

Here's Disneys "official " guidlines for costumes at MNSSHP:

They should not interfere with their ability to board and unboard attractions and WDW transportation system..

Do not drag on the ground.

Do not contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.

Be offensive to other guest.

Should not contain any weapon(s) which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

I'm having a hard time with the full costume idea too. DH & I will probably find t-shirts and decorate them -- either jack-o-lanterns or skeletons or stretching our imagination -- maybe scarecrows which would be really easy to do. I know my DS3 is going to want to be a power ranger -- I've heard it over and over again since he started watching them. DS8 will be the tough one. Maybe a baseball player since he's really into that. In other words, we'll all be different but just a little bit festive for the occassion.

Looking forward to it!!:D

You guys really have been a great help - although I must admit I'm moving much faster than I had anticipated in buying those tickets!

25 min wait times are not the greatest. Oh well!

Any thoughts on how to best handle the trick or treat stations? Are they all basically the same?

For those of you looking for just t-shirts with a Halloween theme, they do sell MNSSHP tees at the MK! Dh and I bought matching ones last year and changed into them in the restrooms before the party started. Our party photo turned out cute with ds in costume and dh & me matching. :)

Thanks to everyone who has made costume suggestions for DH and me. I am going to spend some time this summer doing some research on Disney themed costumes and see if there is anything DH would be comfortable wearing.
Also, Old Navy usually has a great selection of Halloween themed merchandise. A few years ago I purchased glow in the dark pj bottoms and a white t-shirt with an orange pumpkin to wear for crazy dress day at the school where I teach. It was a nice and comfy alternative to a more traditional costume. It's also something you could wear in the future. Just think of how much fun glow in the dark pants would be on the "dark" rides! :)

Hi All!

This will be our first time at MNSSHP (we're going on the 31st) and from all I've been reading, I'm getting more and more excited! Thanks for all the great tips so that we can enjoy it to the fullest with our DS age 9 and 6. This is only our 2nd time at DW, what a blast! Does anybody have any good sites to recomend to help with a family costume theme? TIA and look forward to seeing you there!
