MMMKay,

My family and I are heading to Disneyland this week, we are going to go on Friday the 15th, and we have decided last minute that we want to attend the Halloween Party..

I have a couple of questions about the party if I could...I haven't ever attended this, and neither has my family.

1. Do we need to buy tickets for this in advance? Or will we be ok to buy them the day of the party? Does Disney only allow a certain amount of people to go to the party?

2. Do you HAVE to dress in costume to go? No one in my family was planning on wearing a costume so we just wanted to make sure.

3. Is there a special parade and fireworks show? I just want to confirm...

4. Are all rides open? Or only certain rides?

5. Ok last question. Is it worth it to attend this party? Worth the price I mean? Are there any extra tips I should know about the party?

THANKS very much everyone!

We are going!! I havent been to any of their HS but Ive been researching, reading and asking people and these are my answers:

1. Do we need to buy tickets for this in advance? Or will we be ok to buy them the day of the party? Does Disney only allow a certain amount of people to go to the party?

- Id buy them now if I were you! These tickets are not like the regular passes! They do sell out but Im not sure how fast. WDW halloween tickets are already sold out months ago - dont know abt DL but I just checked their site and its still available. We got ours a month ago :goodvibes

2. Do you HAVE to dress in costume to go? No one in my family was planning on wearing a costume so we just wanted to make sure.
- No. You are not required. You are encouraged. Difference ;)

3. Is there a special parade and fireworks show? I just want to confirm...

Yes there are special fireworks (Halloween Screams) and a halloween parade!:woohoo:

4. Are all rides open? Or only certain rides?
Most of them are.

5. Ok last question. Is it worth it to attend this party? Worth the price I mean? Are there any extra tips I should know about the party?
YES YES YES!!!!!:banana::banana:

1) my opinion no, i'm buying my day of, they never sell out except Halloween night

2)no you don't have to dress in costume, its fun though;)

3) there is both fireworks are called Halloween screams and parade called like Halloween cavalcade or something like that

4)most rides, except toontown is completely closed and i know it's a small world is closed

5)i think YES, the do a really good job creating a Halloween environment and you get A LOT of candy and the whole event is just awesome!!! and the lines for lines are a lot shorter!

i hope you have a AMAZING time! i'll be there too, so if you see a girl in a minnie mouse costume and a toy story woody backpack, that's me!:goodvibes

Thanks very much everyone!

1. You can buy them in advance by calling or buying online. You can buy tickets on the day of the party if they are still available. We don't know how many tickets DL is distributing.

2. You can wear a costume or not during MHP.

3. Yes, the fireworks show is called "Halloween Screams" fireworks and the parade is actually called a Cavalcade, it is called "Mickey's Costume Party Cavalcade".

4. Most of the rides are open during MHP.

5. For the price to be in the park for 8 hours which is not bad for part of a day in the park. Not only do you get to see HS and MCPC, you also get to go at different TOT stations around the park and the character greetings at certain places around DL. The first three hours are with the non-ticket holders which makes it very crowded until they leave at the party start time. For the tip, if you get into the park for the first three hours, I would avoid going on any rides since the non-ticket holders will be in the park to get on a few rides until they are asked to leave the park.

We went last Friday and made it to the park by 7:30. They were still ushering people out and asking people for their wristbands (so make sure they are visible). We walked around and TOT for awhile and got tons of candy. We watched the fireworks (which were awesome!) as they are special only for the Halloween party. After that, we went on the rides and for most rides, waited no longer than 10 minutes. The longest line was Space Mountain and that was really only 25 minutes which is waaaay better than the 60 or 70 minutes we saw earlier in the day. Basically, we got to ride all the rides we wanted to ride in the last 2 1/2 hours of the party.

We went in costume (Street Fighter: Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, and Akuma) and had a blast with other folks. They were great ice breakers as we talked with lots of folks in the lines or on the rides about it.

Almost all rides are open but almost all stores in the back are closed also.

We bought our tix ahead of time but we saw folks buying their tix the day of with no problems.

It was absolutely worth it!! Cheaper than a 1 day pass, lines are shorter than usual, special fireworks, free candy...definitely worth it!! :)

Tickets can definitely sell out. Happened to us last year- wanted to bring friends to the party (mid-october) with us and they were sold out for our night a good few weeks in advance.

In the past, Fridays have been the first days to sell out, so if you're planing on going on a Friday, I'd buy the tickets ahead of time, just to be sure. :)

I would buy them in advance, they are a few dollars cheaper than on the day of the event. We went last night, and I talked to a CM, she said that they sell 18,000 tickets max. Last night was not a sell out, so she estimated they would have about 15,000, which meant the rides were often walk-on, or less than a 5 minute wait.

We also found that not all treat stations are created equal. The one along the Rivers of America was not only crowded during the first hour, but all but ran out of candy toward the end of the night. There was an unmarked one in Tomorrowland (by Innovations) that was handing out double handfuls of candy by about 10pm. We didn't concentrate on getting candy, and still ended up with medium sized backpack stuffed full. I recommend taking a backpack (it will get heavy), and waiting until later to go trick or treating so you don't have to drag 15 lbs of candy around all night.

That will probably be a very busy weekend (lots of people have Fall break and there are some events that weekend too) so I would go ahead and buy your tickets in advance. I agree with others that there's a good chance you'll be fine, but if you know you want to do the party, I'd rather buy in advance to be sure I CAN do it.

THANKS for all your help guys! We are actually going to buy them at the gates on Thursday night. Unfortunately my printer at home died, so we don’t have a way to print them...Hopefully they won’t be sold out when we get them tomorrow night!

Can you get to the public library to print?

We have a "Halloween at DLR Superthread - Part 2" that covers this very topic, among other Halloween Time-related topics. There is lots of MHP discussion.

For general party info and photos, Go to Page 1, very first post, look under Table of Contents and then look for the "Party" heading and you will see links to photos of the Cavalcade (a mini-parade) as well as other stuff.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a printer, and I can't make it to the library because we are leaving really early tomorrow, and that is when I get paid, so I can get the tickets. Hopefully they won't be sold out. Is there a way to order them over the phone and then pick them up at willcall??

I agree with you that if you buy them way in advance you can save from $5-10 dollars per ticket. When I ordered my tickets in advance for Oct 1st, I had to pay $44 a night on Oct. 1st with my AP. I remember that if you have a Disney Visa, DVC, and AP you can get a bigger discount way in advance. And right now if you order it right now, you only can get a $5 discount or none on Halloween weekend.

You are right that the TOT stations by the ROA was the busiest and there was barely anything in Tomorrowland if you don't include the one right next to Matterhorn mountain on the back side.We had so much, we had to use our WoC tote bag to carry all our candy during our time.
