Mickey's Halloween Party Dates

Just to give a reference of the amount of candy you can get.....We had 8 people in our group, 4 adults/4kids and collected a large paper grocery bag FULL of candy total. That was interesting splitting up and trying to evenly distribute between suitcases so we didn't go over 50 lbs on our flight home!

Last year at the Halloween party between my DS (2) and DW and me we scored 24.5lbs of candy. Now I must stress we did not try to run around and hit all the treat stations, we just casually walked around. Then I knew we had a lot of candy earliy in the night by how heavy it was, also carrying it all around the park wasn't fun. When we left the park at closing time the CM at the front gates where putting huge amounts of candy in people's bags it was crazy, at that time I think we doubled our candy.

I went to target and purchased a box and shipped our candy home. The price was $17.00 to ship but worth every penny. Once Halloween night came the little trick or treaters *couldn't believe how much candy we would put in there bags. Even today the neighbor kids ask are you going to be giving out candy this year for Halloween? Makes me smile!

Here is a picture of my DS candy (we still had two other bags!)

Yummy! Tootsie Rolls are my favorite Halloween candy!!

Do they give you the bag?

I like the bag. What a fun souvenir.Do they only give one bag per person or can you also bring in your own bag to fill up in addition to the one they give you?

They give you one per person, but you can also bring your own. The ones they give you are like plastic shopping bags and some don't find them sturdy so they bring their own bag. They also have Mickey jack o latern buckets for sale in the parks during the Halloween season.

We took out kids when they were 4 and they had a blast. The only thing is being from the midwest that time change is hard for us to handle. My kids are 9 now so we are going to give it a try again this year.

They do give you a bag once you arrive and having more than one shouldn't be a issue. Now the bag in the picture is different that the one they give you. I purchased that bag inside the park.

Thanks for mentioning this. I'm going to change my post to note that as well since I didn't make it clear.

oh ok, thanks for the clarification. How much are the bags that are shown in the picture?

I think they run about $10+ depending on the size and material. Usually during October the Disney Store has Halloween reusable shopping bags for much less. And for the last 2 years Walgreens has had the Mickey pumpkin buckets.

How fun!! We are trying to go to DL this year at Halloween time for the first time. This is a great thread!! Thanks everyone

$7 is not bad. I will check around to see what kind of bags I can find for less at the stores before we go too. Good idea. This is our first Halloween/fall time trip to Disneyland this year. We are going in July and then for Halloween time and I am so excited about both of the trips at the same time. I cannot wait until our summer one but also cannot wait to go back already for Halloween!!!

I heard something about ghosts in space mountain or something for Halloween? How is the space mountain ride different for Halloween?

Are there any "special" foods in the park or at any of the park/hotel restaurants that serve "special" items you can only get around Halloween time?

Pictures of candy at Halloween Party?

This is a post I added to the Halloween Superthread last year, after returning from the party - I just copied and pasted the whole quote from myself. I am showing it to you because I took photos of the other green and black bag that was very popular:

I posted these photos right after returning from opening day of Halloween Time a few weeks ago, but since the question has come up about the bags people are using for their MHP candy, I will post again!

Basically, there are 2 main tote bags floating around DLR in the shops, and people are using these as trick or treat bags, since the free bags you get with your MHP admission are tiny and don't hold much.

This orange bag is everywhere, in almost every shop around Disneyland (and maybe DCA too?) - it has a cute design on the front, but in person it looks a little cheap. I think it's a bit more durable and sturdy than it appears, but I just don't really care for the kind of shiny material, which doesn't come across as well in photos. In any case, if you need a bigger bag to haul your candy around, it gets the job done!

And this is the bag I got (I prefer this bag because I like the colors better and it lights up and twinkles at night), which Jessica/Belle Ella also has. IF you see this bag in a shop and you like it, grab it right on the spot! Don't wait! This bag is more popular than the orange bag, I think, and it gets snapped up rather quickly. When I first looked around on 10/3, I didn't see this bag in any store but the orange bag was all over the place. All of a sudden, before the MHP began, the black & green bag reappeared in a couple of shops! There must have been a stash of the bags in the back somewhere.

Here it is in its twinkly form, at night:

People are also using Mickey pumpkin trick or treat buckets (not as much as the bags, though).

And here are other random photos taken 2 days ago, just for the heck of it (because I'm already in Photobucket!):

Thats a great post, lost of great information. Thanks!

Does anyone know when they will post the dates for the 2012 Halloween parties at DL? WDW party dates were released today (5/1). Also can anyone tell me if this is worth the extra money? I know that the one at WDW is worth it due to the lack of crowds, you can almost stay on the rides. Except for the dates right around actual Halloween.
We are going over Columbus Day weekend. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

Last year they posted it on the AP site in mid May.
