Mickey's Grand welcome?

I was thinking of doing this and was wondering if we can get it done the 1st night of our stay. We arive at MCO at 1100 am and I know my room won't be ready until later. So I was thinking of making a reservation at chef mickey's for 400 pm. Do they give you a time frame that they will do the set up?

Yes, they'll give you a few "windows" of time from which to choose. Something like, "2-5 pm" or "7-9pm." Give them a call, and you will be able to work out a delivery time with them. We're doing Mickey's Grand Welcome as well, but we've chosen to have everything delivered on the 2nd afternoon after we arrive.

We did this in May. We opted for the giant Minnie x2 for our 2 daughters (paid extra for Minnie #2). Unfortunately you cannot have this for your first night. We were informed that the soonest it can be done is the day after check-in. Enjoy, our kids loved it!!

I was wondering that too, I don't think that I have every heard of this, but would love to know how much, what it is, and if they do at all resorts.

It's offered through Disney Florists, you can check it out on their website. Ours included the following: 2 giant stuffed Minnies (usually 1 giant Mickey), 2 personalized Mickey blankets (usually one), Mickey popcorn tin set with choc-covered rice krispie Mickey's with the letters spelling out "Welcome" on each one, a Mickey photo frame with autographed picture, autograph book/pen, Mickey giant hands, Tinkerbell silhouette which lights up for several days, a large "Celebrate" banner, Mickey footprints leading from the door, and Mickey confetti. I think this was it. It was really cute and our daughters loved it!!

We are doing the Mickey's Grand Birthday Wish for dd for her 6th birthday (her birthday is actually 2 days after we return home). It is quite expensive but it will be in lieu of a party or additional gifts at home and dd25 will be pitching in for her "share" of the gift. We are planning to have it delivered and set up while we are CRT for her birthday dinner (4 pm). We will also have to have a smaller gift of some sort delivered for ds8.

Fold Mickey in half, put him in a bag and he fits under the seat on the plane.

I have this ordered for our trip on October 4th. Mickey will "show up" and deliver the goods while we are out and about on our 2nd day. Our DDs are 7 and 4 (turning 5 while in Disney), and I think they will absolutely love this.

You mentioned you arrive around 11am and you know your room won't be ready. Just fyi, I've arrived as early as 830am this past year and they've never not had my room be ready.

In terms of pure material goods?

No.

I did this on my trip and I figure the stuff we received was about 2/3 the cost I paid. I'm guessing about $100+ counts towards the "delivery" costs for all the in-room celebrations. It's good quality merchandise but like all things at the park, overpriced (except for the glowing tinkerbell which is obviously meant to be a one-time use only... the glowing ice cubes I got from the drinks were better made! But then the only thing I wanted out of that package was the glowing tinkerbell so I'm a bit jaded there. ).

The room itself wasn't as decorated as I thought it would be either. There's a (very nice) banner on the door, a banner on the window and tinkerbell on the mirror but only one bed was actually decorated and had the presents with the photo on the night stand.

In terms of pure Disney memory making magic?

Abso-friggin-lutely.

We were there for 3 days 2 nights and I had the celebration planned for the last night just after the fireworks (My delivery times were 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9 and I knew we'd be in the park for dinner and fireworks so 7-9 it was... although 10am-1 would've worked better for me). It was quite a shock to the family coming home dead tired after a day in the parks and a fireworks show to see the banner on the door and the gifts on the bed. In spite of everything else we did it's one of the more memorable points of the trip.

It helps to know your audience though - If they're not into Mickey Mouse or "Disney Magic" to begin with you might get better value elsewhere!
