hi last time we went to mgm 22 years ago they had a hugh mickeys hat have they done anything with this is it still there

Yes, the big hat is still there- it is in front of the Great Movie Ride. In the morning, characters have meet & greets in the area in front of it.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice hat in front of the Chinese Theater was installed for the 100 years of magic celebration...just a couple of years ago.

The Disney MGM studios opened in 89, so the OP wasn't there 22 years ago, but I believe they might be referring to the giant Mickey ears atop the water tower.
