Yes. We go every trip. sometimes twice. Lotsa of characters, activity, music, food, photo-ops, etc. You might try checking several times for last minute cancellations and get in that way.
We booked our trip at the last minute and I was able to get us tickets for a Monday. One of the CM that I spoke to told me that they had the BBQ four times that week because they were so busy.
We were actually a little disappointed in the BBQ. We thought it was way overpriced considering you do just get barbecue food. Our two boys (2 and 5) also weren't really interested in getting up to dance with the characters. They had met the characters so many times in different places in the parks that they weren't overly excited to see them at the BBQ.
If you have kids that would love to dance with the characters then I'm sure the BBQ would be worth it.
My 2 year old and I danced the whole time and had a blast. She loved the music and the trick roper... I keep catching her swinging her jump rope and yelling yee haw . The other two kids and my husband didn't dance, but still enjoyed it.
We took our first trip to WDW last year - and booked the BBQ. We enjoyed it very much. My DH loved the ribs/potato salad. My DDs were scared of the characters so didn't dance. One actually ran screaming "the mice are too big here" in the other direction. But they still enjoyed sitting and watching the dancing/the trick ropers, etc. And it was also our first glimpse of FW.
This year we are staying at FW, and have booked the BBQ again. DH put it on his "have to do again" list - and the girls should be willing to dance this time around. We are also going to try out Hoop Dee Doo this year.
We head that way in 10 days! Not that I'm excited or anything.
