We are thinking about taking our grandkids here in Feb.
Ages 6 & 4.
We have been to Disney many times and have never tried this venue.

Is it worth the $$$?
Do the kids get to dance and interact with the characters?

Thanks for any info.

It was the highlight of our first trip with DS! We absolutely loved it. The food was mediocre, but the experience was great. The characters come out for several sets and dance like crazy with the kids. It's not like a typical character meal (no autographs or going form table to table). Instead, it's more like a dance hall - country band, lots of dancing and performing, a rope twirler act. It was really fun.

The character interaction and the show are great! The food was good, albeit that it is picnic food, but good picnic food. Wine, Mickey ice cream bars! Heaven! We really enjoyed it and met really nice people to share our dinnertime with. "Worth it" is subjective, but a great time with good food and nice people, is 'worth it' to me.

NOTE1: Tables are long picnic tables of about 40 people per table, so you sit with
others. No reserved seating, so the "mad dash" for seats can be interesting. There is
no "front row", just the end of the picnic tables. Folks start lining up about 1-hr prior
to the 5:30pm seating. Also, the characters are there for dancing and front interaction,
and usually do not go thru tables, so sometimes there is a long line trying to get to the
characters. Also noted the sides are open to the weather. They put up plastic diverters
for winter and simple fans for summer, but it does get VERY hot/humid or cold. This is
not a well heated or air conditioned pavilion. "Dancing" characters interact well with
kids in front of the stage, and younger kids love it.

NOTE2: Mickey BBQ was always about one-half the price of the Hoop Dee Do Review.
With the popularity of DDP, they jumped the price double, including 2-TS coupons.
WITH NO CHANGE IN MENUS; NO CHANGE IN CHARACTERS; NO CHANGES AT ALL. Cost
was barely justified at lower prices, and not worth the current price. At least just
not for ribs-chicken-burgers.

I think the grand kids will love it! I do and I'm a granny, lol.
We've been 4 times. Once in June, twice in Sept, and once in late November.
Weather was always comfortable, never too hot or too cold.
Never saw a "mad dash" for a table.
When you first get there, there is usually a character you can pose with and take a picture (we had Goofy and Chip n Dale). Then you go over to a waiting area (all outside) where there are tables set up to play checkers or a little area for kids to play. A cast member brought out trays of lemonade & punch for you while waiting. Then you go into an open pavillion with lots of picnic tables lined up end to end in rows. There are others at the tables but we always had plenty of 'space' between us.
All you can eat Mickey Bars!!!

In think if they like the characters then they will definitely love it. We ate there last year with my 5 yr old and she absolutely loved it. They have a lot of choices for food, hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork etc. The little ones get to dance with the characters. Our family really enjoyed it and would do it again.

Thank you all for the information, I am thinking we may give it a try.
