Has anyone attended this? If so, how was it, and is it worth 2 TS credits?

I have 2 boys, 3 and 6, and think they would love it, but would love to hear anyones experience.

I was thinking of doing it either on arrival or departure day!

Thanks:)

I have been to Disney 28 times and attended this for the first time in April of 2012. I went with my friends daughter who was 4 at the time and my friends son who was 9 and they both loved it. The 3 adults (including me) in our party loved it as well. The kids loved it so much that when we got back home from our trip they asked if we could somehow recreate it in their backyard.

I am going this summer with my family and we are going. I am the only one in the group that has been to the backyard BBQ. My family and I are avid disney goers and after I came home and talked about how much fun it was, my mother decided we have to go.

The food is good, the entertainment is great, it is very family oriented and it is an experience your kids will talk about forever.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Our Ratings of Mickey's BBQ: (rev 1/10/13)
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: D
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: C
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: B
. . . character interaction: C

NOTE1: Tables are long picnic tables of about 40 people per
table, so you sit with other families. No reserved seating, so
the "mad dash" for seats can be interesting. There is no front
row", just the end of the picnic tables. Folks start lining up
about 1-hr prior to the 5:30pm seating. Also, characters are
there for dancing and front interaction, and *usually* do not
go thru tables, so sometimes there is a long line trying to get
to the charcters. It should also be noted that the sides are
open to the weather. They put up some plastic wind diverters,
but it does get hot or cold.

NOTE2: Mickey BBQ was always about one-half the price of the
Hoop Dee Do Review. With the popularity of DDP, they jumped the
price to double, including 2-TS coupons. NO CHANGE IN MENUS,
NO CHANGE IN CHARACTERS. NO CHANGES AT ALL. Cost was
barely justified at lower prices, and not worth the current price.

We absolutely love MBYBBQ!!
This is only held on Thursdays & Saturdays.
We've gone in Sept & Nov and weather was nice both times.
There was no 'mad dash' for seats either time & we went during free dining.
The first time we drove over and rode the internal bus to the main part & then you have to walk over to the pavillion. The next time we caught the boat from MK & then walked the rest of the way.
Altho you do line up early, there is a small area for the kids to play & a few tables set up for checker playing. Both times when waiting they brought out trays with lemonade & fruit punch.
We are going again in June, can't wait.
Oh, and ALL YOU CAN EAT MICKEY BARS!!!!

Thank-you to everyone that responded. I've heard mixed reviews, and was on the fence!
I'm staying at AKL, so would it be easier/quicker to take a cab? Also, how long does it normally run? And, can you watch the fireworks/water parade as well from FW after MBYBBQ?
We were also thinking of doing Chip and Dale campfire, but that would have to be another night I guess.
My 3 year old LOVES Chip & Dale, so have to try and plan as many meet and greets with them as I can!
Our arrival day is a Thurs, so I'm thinking either do it on our arrival day, or the Sat or our last night which is a Sat as well (we are in WDW for 11 days). I'm worried the kids may be tired by the evening since I will have to have them up around 5:30am to catch our 8am flight. We are coming from Toronto, Canada.

Thank-you!!! Wow, 28 times..lucky you!! This will be my DH, and boys 1st time! I've been before apppx 5 or 6 times, but haven't been back since 2005.

Chip & Dale will be there, correct? My 3 year old LOVES Chip & Dale!

Do you think a Thurs night would be less busy then a Sat night? I wish it was other nights!

I am trying to figure out whether we go on our 1st night (its a Thurs) or a different Sat or Thurs while we are there. Our last night is a Sat, so not sure if this would be a good way to end the trip? We will be there for 11 days.

I have a Pirate Cruise booked as well, so I'm trying to squeeze it all in. Even the Pirate Cruise is limited to only 3 nights while I'm there:(

Yes, I am lucky. It sometimes is a running joke that when we go somewhere else that Disney World must be closed. :rotfl2:

Chip and Dale are there. :)

When I was there last April, we could see the fireworks from the resort.

We went on a Thursday, so I can't really speak to the crowded question, but my guess would be a Thursday.

Seeing Disney through a child's eyes for the first time is amazing!!

Have fun ! My sis went and raved about this !!!!! Unfortunately we will be at dis sun-wed so have to miss it!
